Has anyone had a normal TCA peel and the obagi blue peel? Where I am from I can't find anyone that will do the Blue Peel but they have a TCA peel. Different or the same thing? |

Hi Jeffiner,
The Obagi Blue Peel *is* a TCA (tricholoroacetic acid) peel. The difference between a "regular" TCA peel and the patented Blue Peel is that the Blue Peel has a measured application of blue glycerine, mixed with TCA. This blue dye is reported to improve patient safety by visually indicating to the skin care professional the TCA solution strength and the areas and depth of facial skin coverage.
Between one and four "bluepeel" applications, or layers can be applied at one time, though local anesthetic may be required for more than one covering. As each layer is applied, each individual coat penetrates the skin to a deeper level, and darkens the blue shade of the Blue Peel.
Though some people have reported that you can purchase Blue Peel kits on the internet and on Ebay, I would strongly suggest that you consult a licensed dermatologist. TCA can cause permanent scarring and permanent damage if used incorrectly.
You may be able to find a doctor who is qualified to do Blue Peels at the following link:

Hope this helps! |

Absolutely it helped. I am going to try and find someone that can do the peel for me in the states...no one around my town locally will do it and since I am 5 mins from the US border I will check it out. The only thing is that I purchased a kit on Ebay (I know, it's a risk) and I have to first see if it's a legitimate kit (apparently the lady's husband was a plastic surgery and they are selling the left over kits) but anyways, I wonder if the Dr will do it for me and I can pay some sort of application fee. Who knows! I will be making phone calls. Thanks for your help! |
