Hello,
I am thinking of getting my eyebrows done as I am going travelling soon and really can't be bothered with pencils and dyes out there!
Has anyone had this procedure and could you let me know your stories?
I am going for a consultation in a few days and am really excited at the prospect of no more fussing!!
Thanks

Quite a few of my friends have had it done with varied results. The technology I think has been around long enough that it should be relatively safe. But the most importand factor is handiwork of your esthetician, because at the end of the day even if it is semi permanent, you're still gonna be stuck with it for at least a couple years if you get a bad job done. What really matters is the artist's eye and skill.
So just research thoroughly the reputation of the place you're going to, check out the brows of the people who've been to the same person. And make sure you see multiple sets of brows before you make a decision, because some estheticians only know how to do 1 specific shape very well and if your face doesn't tolerate that shape..........
Good luck! |

I agree with FatSwan: this really is a case where the ability of the technician is everything. Get referrals from ppl who have gone to a good tech.
I just went last week to the only tech in town who does this and decided not to have her do mine since I didn't like her work. The consult was free fortunately, but she charges $500 for the work. She herself had had "micropigmentation" (tattooing) of her brows 13 years ago and honestly, it looked just horrible! The pigment had faded to a most unflattering charcoal grey color and the work was clumsily done and artificial looking. She admitted that she was due for a touch-up, as is common with the procedure. She showed me her portfolio and the clients looked like graduates of Clown College. Poor things.
I know there are better examples out there, so maybe sometime I will eventually have it done, but I am looking for someone who has the expertise to "feather" the lines so they look natural, not "drawn on" with a heavy hand. Choice of pigments is very important too, as some fade to orange and some to grey I understand.
Good luck, and I hope you find just the right tech! |

What is semi permanent? Does it eventually come off after a certain period of time? |

I believe semi permanent is the kind that requires touch ups every 2-3 years. But not sure if it completely fades away |

I don't know why they call this "semi-permanent". From what I've heard, it's basically tattoo-ing; colored dye injected under the skin. And like tattoos, it can fade after a while. Sometimes the color migrates and doesn't look as crisp. I guess that's okay, as long as the color doesn't go where you don't want it to, and then you go in for a touch-up or refreshing. But my derm, who occasionally removes tattoos with laser, says they're really difficult to completely remove, require time and numerous sessions. And $$$$. Sounds pretty permanent to me!
So, yes, someone considering this has to be very careful about the technician, and check out his/her handiwork. I've heard of beautiful results, especially on brows and lips. |

I've gotten my eyebrows tatooted and they look amazing. I said goodbye to pencils and hellow to beautiful brows. It lasts about two years then the tatoo fades, but you can always go and get them touched up. Hope this helps |

It is basically tatooing and I have had my eyebrows, eyliner and lipliner done. As far as eyebrows go, that's pretty easy with minimal pain, the main thing is though, make sure your tech has lots of before and after pictures. Also, have her draw your brows in with a pencil first and take a Polaroid so you can agree on an exact shape. Another thing to keep in mind, not as much with brows as with liner, but black based colors usually turn blue so make sure you go with a brown base. I went with an ash color because my brows are pretty light. I have always been happy with my brows and it even fixed a "naked place" from a childhood scar.
As far as eyeliner and lips go, I wouldn't do it if I had it to do over. There are some days that I wish I just look completely natural but I can't I've got eyeliner. With the lips, for me it was super painful and because I am so oily (and at that time had some major clogged pores in the lip line area) it never took, I went through it three times and nothing.
One thing to keep in mind, your brows are going to be major dark and first and you'll have to keep them greased with Bacitracin for about a week so be sure to schedule at least 2 weeks before any special events. |

it depends on wehre you to go to and how skilled is your beautician who does it for you. my friend one turned out really pretty, but have to go for touch-up. Some are really fake, thick and ugly! |

Im thinking of having my brows done - can permanent makeup appear to have a brow lift effect?
i have heavy lids (so I know surgery is pretty much the only option). But my brows are very low and was hoping that I could have them waxed and then tattooed higher to open my eyes. Is this possible/good idea??
THANKS |
