I just finished my bottle of Obagi's 20% Vit C and I have been reading reviews on Vivier. I am not sure whether to buy another bottle from Obagi or try Vivier. Has anyone tried both and preferred one over the other? Thanks!

What results did you notice with the Obagi product? Reduction in lines/pores/improved texture/improved hyperpigmentation?

I am using the Obagi 10% C serum with 4% hydroquinone. It has contributed to a brightening of my complexion. I use it mostly for protection from antioxidants though.

Amonavis, are you using the Clarifying C-RX with the Nu Derm, or did you stop the Nu Derm?

I received a generous sample of Vivier's CE Kinerol and have been using it for about two weeks now. My main concern currently is fading red post-acne marks, and I was amazed by the results on the first night I used it -- literally faded scars overnight! (And I promise I don't say this about everything.) That first day was the biggest in terms of results, but my skin has definitely started to calm down/even out thanks to it. The serum is liquid in texture, and it goes on nicely without any oily residue. I haven't tried Obagi, though, so I can only offer this one side of the story. Smile

I used the Obagi C for 4 weeks before NuDerm. Then with Obagi I mostly used cellular skin RX. I just stopped NuDerm and I am back to the Obagi C. My face was getting brighter before NuDerm just by using the Obagi C.

Thanks, amonavis. I think you can "kill 2 birds with 1 stone" with the Clarifying C (meaning getting your C and HQ all at the same time).

Yeah you can for sure. There was a study that Obagi did that shows that HQ increases penetration of the Vitamin C. I believe its available on obagi.com if you click on the information for physicians.

Yes, I have seen that study. I think Septembergirl also posted the study someone here on this forum, so people could do search if they are interested in it!

Thank you for crediting the wrong person, rileygirl. Wink

It was actually havana8 who posted an Obagi study showing that the Obagi vitamin C serums have a better penetration rate than other vitamin C serums.

Here is the link to the topic:

http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=30737&highlight=obagi+study

Please note that the study is conducted by the Obagi company. It's not independent research, so I guess the results from the study are not too surprising...

The Obagi C Rx with 4% Hydroquinone is making me peel like crazy. Has anyone had this too? I don't know what is going on.

Amonavis, are you using anything with the C-RX that could cause the peeling? I just started with the C-RX and it is so incredibly oily/greasy, I don't know how it could cause peeling!

Here is another vote for the Vivier - after a long search for MY VitC serum (Skinceuticals, Skinmedica, Revive, etc.) I'm staying with Vivier (the one with Kinerol). It was the first VitC serum, which wasn't drying for me. I'm doing a Marine Collagen therapy now and don't use VitC serum : my skin got patchy again. I can't await to finish the Collagen and get back to my Vivier. I don't have a 1:1 comparison though, since I've never used Obagi.

Oh really? I don't find it too oily, it sinks in in about a minute for me. I think it causes peeling for me only when i use 5 drops or more.... I have cut down and no more peeling. Still have some redness though.

I'm a fan of Vivier, because it does work for me. I was told years ago that Vivier is a bit better then Obagi. Maybe that was a sales pitch from the SA, but I love the stronger strength of Vivier 20%.

Skinceuticals and Cellex-C were formulated by the same person and those formulae are the most stable.

Well...I think I am going to get the Obagi...stick with what I know for right now. Plus if I order 200 in Obagi I will get a free face wash so I guess this kind of helps. Thanks for your help.

If anyone can vouch and say otherwise speak soon. Smile

Can obagi's vit C serum be used alone, or should go with obagi's NU Derm?

Never tried the two brands.

But the obagi one looks really strong....My skin is not that tolerant, for me, maybe Vivier is better.

I am really interested in the Obagi C RX. Is 15% too strong to start out with? I am using Renova at night, so figured my skin could tolerate it.
