Hello--I am really excited to have found this forum, as there seems to be a lot of solid, unbiased information here.
I am currently needing a serious rejuvenating new regimen for my skin! I have always had problem-prone skin, vacillating between clear periods and eczema and acne. i think my skin is pretty tough, as one really horrible year of cystic acne left me with pitted scarring that has filled in quite a bit to the point i can live with it. i also had been enjoying a particularly healthy period of skin recently, and at 34, was looking the best i had in my life. still, tragically, THIS year, i had a horrible rash break out on my face (possibly eczema but a real mystery!) that had me red, swollen, and peeling for months. i have it under control now with medication, but my skin has been through hell. it is now blotchy, leathery, and wrinkly (never had many wrinkles before!), and i seem to have developed dark circles and bags under my eyes only in the last 6 months that make me look tired and sickly all the time!
researching this site, i became interested in the 302 line for my haggard skin but it looks like it is difficult to purchase and it requires a lot of commitment. i am also looking into a dermaroller, cp serum, and the easy eye solutions products for my dark circles and bags. still, can anyone else recommend something that might help bring back the relative skin health i had only a year ago? i would really appreciate any advice! thanks!!! |

I'm not familiar with this line but heres some info on it to help you in making a decision.
This is from the Beautypedia AKA cosmetics cop.
Obagi
Strengths: Selection of good water-soluble cleansers; prescription-only products with 4% hydroquinone; well-formulated AHA products; almost all sunscreens provide sufficient UVA protection.
Weaknesses: Expensive; some products available only via prescription, which can be inconvenient; poor anti-acne products; one skin-lightening product with sunscreens does not provide adequate UVA protection; moisturizers should contain more state-of-the-art ingredients. |

beebs, have you been under the care of a derm? have you been diagnosed with ecsema? you may need to get a diagnosis of your skin from a derm, and instructions as to what products you are able to use (or not) as we would hate to trigger a bad reaction with your skin.
Do you know if you can tolerate Retin A? A low dose Retin A twice a week might be a nice place to start. |

Hello!
Thanks for all the advice...i have been doing quite a bit of research on this forum, but it can be a bit confusing weeding through it all.
i have been to SO many doctors about my skin (esp regarding the rash). one derm said it was seasonal allergies. another said it was eczema. both just prescribed cortisone and i had to stop using it after a month because i didn't want to ruin my face. my rash came back. i have finally gotten it under control with chinese herbs...but the damage is there. it is still really dry and the quality has diminished. i currently use squalene oil to moisturize and that is about it. i ordered CP serum but am a bit afraid i will irritate my skin! |

My immediate thought is to try Retin A, or maybe green cream (starts out more mild) HOWEVER, I worry about the rash.
Do they have any idea as to what might have caused it? make-up, existing products, Diet?
I think what ever you do, you should only introduce one product at a time. You may flare up, and it would be a total bummer to flare after starting a handful of items. You'd have to stop everything...
Good luck! |
