Dermalogica AGE Smart Antioxidant Hydramist
My rating = 1 out of 5
It's a toner intended to hydrate with anti-ageing and antioxidant properties.
I used this product on and off over a period of four months. It costs around $40 AUD for 150ml.
What’s good about it? It smells nice, with the same rosewood fragrance as the most of the AGE Smart range. It’s packaged in a very elegant spray bottle. Think that pretty much covers the things I liked about it.
What’s not so good? It stung my eyes. I didn’t find any ‘flash-firming’ effect as claimed. I tend to like a toner that will saturate a cotton pad so I can give my face a whisk over and clean up any tiny remnants of mascara and flaky bits, so I’m generally going to like a spray toner less than a pourable bottle. That said, I tried using this as both a spray and to saturate a cotton pad and found this toner had absolutely no lubricating qualities at all. I don’t suggest these are the ingredients, but it felt like water with a dash of rubbing alcohol. Very disappointing. On the odd occasion that I let it dry on my skin before applying something else, my skin felt very slightly…powdery. It wasn't hydrating for me.
This product looks really nice on the bathroom shelf with the other AGE Smart range, but that’s about it for me. It’s a pity; it seems to include some great ingredients, but it didn’t feel like it gave me any positive effects at all. This is worth buying if you’re intent on trying the full line, but otherwise this is the one product in the AGE Smart line that I would avoid (sorry, Dermalogica).
Ingredients: water, palmitoyl tripeptide-5, arginine/lysine polypeptide, magnesium ascorbyl phosphate, glucosamine hcl, carboxymethyl beta-glucan, camellia sinensis leaf extract, bambusa vulgaris leaf/stem extract, pisum sativum (pea) extract, aloe barbadensis leaf juice powder, sodium lactate, sodium pca, sorbitol, proline, dipotassium glycrrhizate, methyl gluceth-20, lecithin, tocopherol, glycerin, peg-40 hydrogenated caster oil, tocopheryl acetate, disodium edta, benzyl pca, phenoxyethanol, butylene glycol, citral, citronellol, eugenol, farnesol, geraniol, hyroxycitronellal, isoeugenol, linalool, acorus calamus, aniba rosaeodora (rosewood) wood oil, eugenia caryophyllus (clove) flower oil, helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, pelargonium graveolens flower oil, rose flower oil, citrus medica limonum (lemon) peel oil/extract, caprylic/capric triglyceride |
