My problem areas (besides adapting to a new country) were: uneven skin tone and above all, dark circles and puffy eyes.
For the last 4 weeks or so, I've been using different products (many of them are DIY recipes found in this blog) and I already see some major improvements.
I'm not exactly sure which one did the trick -maybe it's a combination of all of them- but here how it goes..
Under eye treatments:
----------------------
1. Every morning, I apply a mixture of plain yogourt, milk and honey underneath my eyes. I leave it there for 15 minutes then I rinse it off. Keep the mixture in the refrigerator.
2. At night, after cleaning my face, I apply plain gelatin. (recipe: powdered gelatin mixed with boiling water - refrigerate until thick.
Results: Dark circles and puffiness have become barely noticeable. My "undereye" problem was taken care of so I moved on the other challenge: my skin tone. The following gave very good results.
Morning skin care routine:
--------------------------
1. ACV/Green tea toner (3/4 green tea, 1/4 apple cider vinegar)
2. Yogourt treatment(under the eyes)
3. Vitamin C serum (vit. C + glycerin + water + a dash of hamamelis water) - I rinse it off after 20 minutes
3. Moisturizer (I use the cheap ones like L'Oreal, Garnier...)
4.Sunscreen that doesn't block my pores(I use Laroche Posay).
These made wonders just after a few days of use: my skin tone has cleared up and my skin looks more toned (pores seem to have shrunk).
My last challenge was to find a good exfoliating product. I tried many DIY recipes but none seemed to make a real difference. So, two weeks ago, I went to the drugstore and bought a tube of Retin-A 0.05% (in Mexico, you get it for under 20$ - not an imitation, not a generic brand, but the real stuff). I guess I'm lucky: got no irritation, no flaking, just promising results.
Now I'm adding facial exercises (I'm a skinny woman and unfortunately, I have hollow cheeks). I see some positive results after less than 1 1/2 week (my boyfriend finds it very funny when I do my face workout while watching tv). I got the exercises from youtube. To wrap it up:
Evening skin care routine:
--------------------------
1. Face wash (Cetaphil or any mild face cleanser will do)
2. Gelatin (under the eyes)
3. Facial exercises
4. Retin-A(wait 30 minutes after you wash your face).
5. A good night of sleep.
Exception made for the Retin-A and the high quality sunblock, all the products I use are extremely cheap (hey, I'm on a tight budget). You'll find all the recipes in the DIY sections of this blog. BTW, many thanks to all the girlzzz who provided me with those great tips!.

What a great list, Mimi! I'm going to give these tips a try and - best of all - they aren't expensive Thanks so much for sharing. Cheers, Bessie |
