I don't want to alarm anyone, but has anyone experienced having a scratchy throat while using their LED unit? I have a Pretika and one of those handheld units from Ebay and up to today, I used my units twice a day every day. I kept my neck area covered with a thick blanket that I wrapped around it. I don't have a history of thyroid problems and I have not been experiencing other symptoms. Perhaps it's just the weather? Just to be safe, I have stopped using my LEDs to see if it will clear on its own. Thank you for your help. |

Maybe the "itchy, scratchy throat" is from the "blanket you wrapped around your throat"... |

The itching is on the inside, in my throat, not on the outside where the blanket is. I am not using my LED unit right now and I am still experiencing the same itching in my throat. I have thought, however, that it is the weather--it's been chilly here and we've been using electric heaters a lot. Maybe they are drying the air out and causing my throat to be dry. But it's not from the blanket--I don't have one wrapped around me right now. I only wondered if anyone had the same experience as I don't want to create problems for my thyroid from using this unit. |

PhaiG,
I have some sinus issues and the LED does help with drainage of my sinuses. Maybe that's what you're experiencing? |

Skippie, thank you. That sounds possible. I don't have any symptoms other than the scratchy throat. It does feel like things are draining a bit. How do you use your LED? I just want to make sure I'm doing everything right. And thank you for your response. I appreciate it. |

Skippie,
What exactly are you noticing with with your sinus drainage? Are things better for you or worse? Mine have been driving me batty for the past several weeks. I would love to think the LED could help but I use mine 3-4 times per week and can't say I've noticed a difference. |

PhaiG and Songbird,
I use the LED six days out of the week. I'm using it all over my face and neck with the exception of the thyroid area. I even use it right above that area. I do think it helps with sinus drainage. I have terrible problems this time of year, too, and usually have a puffy face and eyes. This year it's not so bad - no puffy face at all even though my eyes have been slightly puffy a couple of days. But I will say I've also been doing some lymph massage techniques that seem to be helping, too, Songbird. I'm getting them from the book I keep mentioning "Japanese Skincare Revolution." Sorry to keep talking about it but I love her techniques because they really seem to work. |

Skippie,
Thank you for helping me and the rest of the forum. Technology is something, isn't it? I'm glad that the LED is working so well for you. |

When I first started using my AALS (LED) I got sick with the WORST---AND I MEAN THE WORST sore throat I have ever experienced. Swallowing was sheer torture for 5 days and nothing gave me relief. I realized that I was using the LED without drinking H2O and rehydrating and I was actually dehydrated when I got sick. Are you drinking enough water? |

Mountaingirl,
First, I want to thank you for your post. You gave me something else to think about. I have been studying for a big exam and have been drinking huge amounts of black tea, but not water. I was drinking lots of water during the summer, but now that it's a little cooler I haven't been drinking as much. Guess I'll have to drink hot water with lemon to stay hydrated. It never crossed my mind about hydration while using LEDs. Thank you so much.
And Skippie, I just wanted to thank you again as well. My sinuses do feel better, as a matter of fact. Thank you and Mountaingirl for easing my mind. Both of you have helped me greatly. I can't thank you enough! |

PhaiG - if you are drinking alot of tea, I think that is fine and its probably equivalent to drinking water. It's replenishing fluids that is important when using an LED. I just wasn't drinking much of anything but a cup of coffee in the morning, before doing an hour and a half of LED! So...I'm thinking you don't need to switch to plain hot water. I wish Kassy would jump in here. She is the Holder of Knowledge as it relates to LED's and side effects. |

Hi All,
I'm new on this forum and really appreciate reading everyone's experience with LED. My Baby Quasar should arrive today and I can't wait to get started!
PhaiG, you do need to drink plain water - caffeine is a diuretic, so in addition to drinking enough water, you need to replenish what you are losing by drinking so much caffeine. |
