Hi everyone,
just wondered if anyone takes honey internally for the health and skin benefits? Is it healthy, or is it as bad as eating a spoonful of refined sugar everyday?
thanks

I use Manuka honey from whole foods for health reasons. Even my gastro doc says she gives honey to her kids. I also take regular honey baths, makes your skin baby soft. LD |

I start my mornings with 1 tsp of organic honey with propolis + 1 cup of warm water, very good to keep cold & flu away. |

I only drink tea with honey, so not to ruin teeth. I use honey & milk soap, and do honey masks. |

I like honey in my tea. It does seem to sooth a dry throat. I believed I read something about the stickiness of honey coating the throat.
I am sure someone can explain better. |

You know, you are right, a bit of honey will soothe, but too much of it will irritate it even more. SOmething to do with the sugars. Same with lemon -a bit of it will help, but too much (acidic I guess) will irritate.
I switched to honey in tea instead of sugar years ago, and stopped having sensitive teeth. |

I occasionally take Manuka Honey with UMF 10+ with herbal teas, just warm water, or in milk which in my opinion, a good prep for a good nights' sleep. I didn't know that taking honey with tea will protect the teeth from the effects of sugar. That's new to me. Anyway, I try not to consume too much sugar and fruit juice/honey 'cause though natural, is still sugar to me. |
