So I've been using viviscal for 8 months now, and I've seen good results with it, in that my hair doesnt seem to be thinning anymore, its looking a lot healthier and a bit thicker. The only thing is its so expensive! There is an offer on Imedeen Derma One, and it would be much cheaper than buying Viviscal every month..
I remember reading on these forums that Imedeen had similar ingredients to Viviscal. Has anyone got any info on this? |

I would feel 100% comfortable taking Viviscal for skin instead of Imedeen, because there were a number of skin related studies on Vivical.
But as far as taking Imedeem instead of Viviscal for hair...I would check the ingredients closely and see what the difference is in the amount of marine protein and silica.
I purchase my Viviscal from iherb because you get a volume discount off the listed price if you hit a certain $ amount (I usually buy 3-6 months at a time).

I also received a coupon from the company below for 10% off...I have ordered from them in the past and had good service. I just clicked on the coupon below and saw that they are also having buy 2 get one free
BTW, please make sure that you take a month off every 6 months (I take every June and December off). This keeps Viviscal working, though after 10+ years it did stop working completely for me and I just had to take a total break for the last 9 months. |

thanks bethany - i remembered someone advising to take off 1 month every 6 months (must have been you!) so I took off june, and restarted last month..
Btw, did you stay on 2 pills a day, or did you move to 1 a day? That would make the cost a lot more manageable for me.
The ingredients list for Imedeen arent too comprehensive, bit says their marine complex is fish proteins and polysaccarides. Viviscal has a few other things listed, so I think I will stick with it. Looking at prices, I think I actually get it for quite cheap, from eBay (£23 which is around $35) |

Mowgli, the amount you should take is weight based, though the new Viviscal reseller is advising that everyone take a minimun of 2 pills a day.
But here is what they used in the Viviscal clinical studies:
Quote: |
The oral dose of Viviscal depended on the body weight (2 tablets daily if less than 80kg and 3 tablets daily if more than 80kg). |
But you have been on it for a while, so you could definitely cut back to 1 pill a day and see how that goes (especially if you are taking the extra strength pills). |
