Hi all,
So i do have acne prone skin, but for some reason I never get pimples on my nose. So last week I felt a bump coming, but I let it go until monday night when I felt like it wasnt getting any better.
side note, when I do get pimples I usually take a noxzema triple action salycitic pad. I think there is about 2% acid in it.
Anywas with normal pimples i hold it to the pimple, it sorta burns and after 5 minutes or so the pad usually goes dry and I take it off.
Well, monday night I attacked the pimple on my nose with a noxzema pad, but i was so tired that i fell asleep with the noxzema pad on my nose and covered by my hand.
yeah i know.
I awoke to a dark brown-slightly pinkish mark on my nose. It doesnt burn, there is no scab or itch, its just looks like a birthmark or something. It feels just as smooth as the rest of my nose, but it might be my imagination but i think i see a ring around the brown patch of skin starting to form.

I read online that this is a chemical burn and that i will have this brown patch of skin on my nose forever. I already have scars from when I was in an accident as a child, mentally i dont hink i can handle another scar. I went to class to day and i felt everyone staring at me, i felt awful.
so far i havent really put anything on. all if done is try to cover it wih makeup when im at class, but i take the makeup off when i get out of class. Last night (tuesday) I put plain yogert and honey on it. and this morning i put like this redness releif cream on it. I also take showers mornings and night.
someone please help me. I need to know if i will look normal again. if so, how long will it take? what should i do to make the brown scar go away?
is this hyperpigmentation?

Hi jellybeangirl,

so sorry to hear Sad But at least it looks like a birthmark and not like a proper scar.
You should definitely go see a dermatologist and see what they have to say, just for peace of mind.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help, but other people will comment, I'm sure.
Big hugs, girl!

A couple of years back I managed to get callus remover on my chin (17% salicylic acid) Don't ask Shock. Anyway I fell asleep and woke up with a spot just like you are describing and just used Shea Butter on it for about a week and it did return to normal! Smile

Aw, see, jellybeangirl! I'm sure everything will be fine. Maybe get something really moisturising like Shea Butter and it will all be okay. Smile

Yep, mine had that look like a burn too, which in a sense it is a chemical burn so just be gentle and keep something soothing and moisturizing on it and I am sure it will heal up just fine. Very Happy

HUGE HUG FROM ME TOO!

im so happy i found this site!!
so, darkmoon do you remember how long it took to go back to normal?
i think my oliv complexion is prone to hyperpigmentation bc sometimes my bad pimples leave me with some brown marks that take about 8 weeks to fade:/
does anyone know anything about emu oil? or mederma? do you think that will help?
thanks for all the responses- they calm me down a bit!

You poor thing! Try not to worry, and try not to now kill it with kindness. And please don't put anymore "yogurt" or other milk/cream products on it. That has alpha hydroxy acid, which will make your already comprimised skin worse.

If I were you, I'd just pat a little diaper cream/ointment on it a.m. and p.m., which will help the skin barrier to repair, and also protect the deeper layers of skin from drying out while it's healing.

Have patience, and keep in mind you have youth on your side. I bet you will be back to normal in a couple of weeks at most.

Welcome!

So first off, a HUGE thank you for those who took the time to respond to my question.
As you all said the brown mark is going away and now some fresh new pink skin is coming in:p
Im so delighted bc it looks like i wont have brown skin on my face yay!Ill stay out of the sun and start usung mederma of vit E once the whole scab has fallen off.
But, remember that this all started with a pimple. Yesterday morning after i got out of the shower i notced that the pimple that got burned too was the first part to peel and I sorta helped it along Embarassed I know!
and i didnt think much of it bc what came out is what usually comes out of a pimple . gross i know but the greenish/tan stuff followed by a little water and some what i presume to be blod. and with my pimples its usually the case where after this purge they deflate and die then heal.
well today i repeated the same process and noticed tath the pimple was like a bump of flesh. that all this would comeout and it was still like a bubble on my nose. a little nasty red flesh bubble that was not on my nose before. i dont have the $ for a derm so what is this and wh at should i do? i asked my pharmasist and he said neosporin and a bandaid . this was yesterday before i noticed the flesh bubble. so is this still a pimple or what?

i think it is still a pimple, but a very upset one. first the burn and then the prodding - you really need to give it time to heal. i know how annoying it can be to have these things on your face, but it will get better, especially if left alone. give it a week, and if it is still around maybe try a drying cream. anything like that right now will hurt the burn. i once burnt the entire side of my face by using a pimple wash too frequently, and it did go away. so don't worry and it really should heal.
