I've been doing tons of research on the Tanda and Baby Quasar, and I KNOW that the BQ is the way to go, but I don't have $700 right now for the power pack. Tanda has a special right now for $289 w/ free shipping for both the blue and red head, and that's in my budget at the moment. I am pretty weary on buying products that are battery operated (toothbrushes, Clairsonic, Opal... etc.) and feel that something more electrically rooted would last longer and be more powerful.

So, I'm leaving this decision up to you, should I purchase the Tanda pack for $289 right now, and buy the BQ later? Or just wait and get the BQ?

I have a Tanda. Used the red light regularly for 6+ months and noticed no changes. I found it to be pretty flaky - some days it wouldn't turn on and stay lit, other times it was fine. This problem only happened when I used it in battery mode.

My son used the blue light for his acne, which is part of the reason I picked the Tanda. It didn't seem to do much, but I'm not sure that he was consistent in using it daily to kill the bacteria.

Are you needing both the red and blue light? If just the red, you may want to look at the Lightstim (currently selling at QVC for $244).

I don't have a Lightstim, but have been eyeing it.

This thread has more info on the Lightstim:

Hello, I have the Baby Quasar and I really like it. It seems to be refining my skin. It looks smoother and just better.

I bought the BQ a couple of years ago. I started using it, but then went on vacation, planning to continue when I got home.

When I got home I came down with chicken pox! So, I had to get over that, and then went to a derm to see if she could do something about the left over lesions.

I dug out the Baby Quasar just 4 weeks ago and started using it, and I am noticing nice things.

I forget what I paid, but the $700 daniellwells mentions is for both red and blue. I've only used the blue a few times and it did work on zits. So, I'm glad to have this in my bag of tricks. But you can have good results with the red alone.
