I've recently come out from an infection I had on my right cheek. Happily, the infection is gone but I'm left with some kick ass scars. Mostly the scars are raised. My dermo suggested, and gave me samples of Mepiform silicone sheets.
Through my research I've learned that silicone sheets are the only scientifically backed 'cure' (there's really no cure...impossible to fully get rid of scars, but possible to make them almost undetectable) to scars, although it does take time. I've contacted my plastic surgeon, but he won't be able to see me until April. He wants to make sure the infection is absolutely gone and my skin is able to settle, then we can look into surgically removing my scars.
So until then I'd like to help myself along. Does anyone out there have experience with silicone sheets? What would be the best brand to go with? I'm in Canada, but seem to order most of my magic cures from the US.
Recommendations??
Thanks!! |

Mepiform is really expensive.
I bought 1 sheet at the medical supply store and that was $20.
I saw that Well.ca sells it,but I don't think I will invest in another sheet yet.
I bought a silicone sheet that can be reused for a few months from Dermstore.com
they ship to canada cheaply.
I tried using Mepiform for a few months and did not notice much difference.
I also tried Mepiform on a very bad scar from a surgery and it did not do much difference.
maybe I need more time...who knows
or maybe I need a cosmetic surgeon?
