Hi I am new to the forum and am excited to learn about everyone's experiences.
I have very dehydrated, sensitive and occasionally blothcy skin due to medication I am taking and I can't seem to find a moisuturer. I currently use Mario Badescu night cream & Christine Valmy during the day. After applying my lotion, then my face powder my face looks very dull and dry. Any recommendations? I was going to look into Avotox for the fine lines. Does anyone know if is save for sensitive skin? I was also interested in the Bare Essential Mineral Powder - any comments on this products. Thanks to all of you for your input.
Getting cold here in the N. East and need to find an answer soon! |

I have mature sensitive skin. I tried Avotox and it was extremely irritating to my face. I have always had combo skin but after using Avotox for a couple of week my skin became very dry. If you are already dry I would not use Avotox. |

my first comment would be to not use powder over your moisturizer if dryness is an issue. If your using powder for colour coverage, then mineral powder would be a better alternative or a liquid foundation/tinted moisturizer. with the mineral powder, it is best to spray a bit of toner or special spray that most mineral makeup companies have available over the powder...it helps the mineral powder set + keeps it from being too drying.
when looking at a mineral powder, try to stay away from ones w. talc...it's drying.
as for a gentle + hydrating moisturizer, i'm very partial to eminence organics right now - i'm using their stonecrop whip moisturizer, it's soothing, hydrating, has a matte finish and is very light-feeling once it soaks in.

Hi Susu and welcome!
With dehydrated skin, I would lose the powder altogether. My skin is quite dry and the only powder I use is to set my undereye concealer and just lightly at that. Is there a reason you feel that you need the powder? On top of my moisturizer, I use a moisturizing foundation and a cream blush. I get a very dewy look which I love.
and, of course, drink water, water, water! |

Dehydrated, sensitive skin. I will therefore advise the following products for your consideration:
Decleor Aromaessence Rose Oil & Hydra Floral Cream.
Skinceuticals Hydrating B-5 Gel and Phytomer Accept Skin Smoothing Cream.
Dermalogica Intensive Moisture Cream mixed with Skin Hydration Booster.
You may also want to consider implementing the use of an exfoliating product, reducing the dead skin cells/barrier between your skin & skincare products. These will also give a smoother application to your make-up: Phytomer Peeling Vegetal Mask, Jan Marini Papazyme Mask, or Yonka Gommage 305. |

Hi,
YonKa make a cream for dehydrated skin, it's Cream 28. Their cleansing milk & toner/lotion are also wondering. You can add a Dermol or Yonka Sereum which is excellent to your mositurizer.Gommage gently exfoliates without drying. Dr.H cleansing cream is also very for for exfoliating.
I would suggest looking into this line. It's one of my favorites!!!!
Good Luck |

Wow, seems you use some of the same products I do. Let's see, where do I start first? About the dry blotchy skin, I had the same problem. I order Aquanil cleanser from the pharmacist or you can order it online at Drugstore.com. They also have a lotion you can order too, but from the pharmacy at your local drugstore. I also used Eucerin products and my skin looks wonderful!! And that is a definite product recommended from dermatologists and is sold all over the world.
Do not use any soap on your skin at all. Just be very gentle. That Aquanil cleanser is also good for Rosacea. My cheeks were so red, I had thought I had rosacea, but it's all gone now.And never use anything with Salicylic acid! Gosh, I used that and it fried my skin so bad. I had bought it b/c I had had acne around my chin area.
About the Bare Escentuals, I ordered that off tv and I did use it and the brushes are high quality. The blush and the mineral veil were very nice..I still use them, but to be honest, the mineral foundation was nice, although if you have any traces of moisturizer, it doesn't go on all that smoothly and I also have inherited dark circles under my eyes, so it didn't help in that respect. Not sure if I would recommend buying it. I prefer liquid foundation.Good luck..: ))OH, I'm 43. |

Hello Susu309,
I second Casper Mum's suggestion of Decleor's Rose d'Orient Oil. The Night Balm has been great for my sensitive skin especially during winter in New England. I awake with soothed, even toned and glowing skin.
During the drier months, if I am not wearing make up, I wash my face with a cleansing water and cotton pad rather than a soap, which dehydrates skin. I like Decleor's Cleansing Water, but I really love Valmont's Water Falls. |

Decleor Harmonie Essentiele cream is also great for sensitive skin but it's hard for me to say if it will be hydrating enough for you though... |

My skin suffers from those conditions as well, especially when under stress, lake of sleep and/ or after antibiotics.
This would appear to be a very unusal recommendation, but please try Olay 14 day skin intervention, esp Phase 1.
The high concentration of niacinamide and the peptides in this product really helped me, virtually overnight.
I persisted with the coditions for 2 weeks, trying different things. Then I came across this an never looked back.
You can try other Olay products with Niacinamide (eg total effects, regenerists, etc), just read the ingredient labels and look for it. The higher it appears on the list, the better.
Good luck. |

With dehydrated skin, the first things I would really suggest you do is up your water intake and take some sort of either fish oil or flaxseed oil (as these help the liver to utilise the water). Also look to include vegetables and foods that hold water - for example short grain brown rice - when you cook it bulks up with water.
The next thing I would be doing is perhaps something like a lotion mask (such as that demo'd on the video on amazon for the book Japanese Skincare Revolution).
Other things I would do is that when you are cleansing, to really make sure you rinse the skin so you remove the cleanser. I used to tell people to fill their sinks with warm (body temp water) and then leaning over do little cupping movements (so your cupping your hands together getting water into them, and then bringing your hands up over your face). So your kind of moisturising from the inside out and outside in at the same time. Also you might want to look at HA in it (as that binds up to 100 times its weight in water). |

The OP posted once in 2004, 7 years ago and hasn't been heard from since. I doubt she/he will answer now. |
