I read that for chemical sunscreens, you have to wait about 15mins before wearing makeup. Also it is not advisable to wear makeup with spf. Does this mean you cannot wear mmu with chemical suncreens?
Can you layer sunscreens? Like wear a chemical suncreen followed by physical sunscreen and vice versa?
Ive been thinking of wearing my normal suncreen followed by a tinted sunscreen because I dont want to wear foundation anymore. Is that okay? Will there be any interaction?
Thanks |

I've heard with chemical sunscreens that you should wait 15 minutes for it to soak in before going in the sun. Not sure if the same rule would apply before putting on makeup. My hunch is that you could wait 2-3 minutes and then put your makeup on, but have it be a total of 15 minutes before you go outside.
There are concerns about layering chemical and physical sunscreens. The zinc can make the avobenzone unstable. I've seen references to free radicial issues. You'll need to see if avobenzone is in your chemical sunscreen.
Coating the zinc and/or titanium in the MMU helps avoid this, but I don't think the manufacturers always specify whether its coated. Here are a couple of interesting references:

The avobenzone in chemical sunscreens inactivates the MMU, leaving you with no protection. If you use MMU it is best to use a physcial sunscreen underneath. |

The other way around Jom, it's the minerals that interfere with the stability of avobenzone. Mineral filters (titanium dioxide and zinc oxide) are always stable. |
