Can someone tell me how those hair shinning products work? I'm talking about the ones that supposedly you put on and it lasts for weeks.
Would there be any you'd recommend? |

Not quite sure if you are thinking about salon processes like Brazilian Blowout ect. Or I use a product called Jazzing in clear that you apply to damp hair leave on (adding heat helps) it coats the hair adding shine. ?? |

Try the above links as they offer recommendations for at home and salon versions.
I have used the John Frieda Hair Glaze which you can buy tinted or clear from any drug store, Pharmacy or chemist and I use this at home quite successfully.
I have Blonde hair and Blonde hair has a habit of becoming dull, brassy and dry at times, however I find since using this my hair is always shiny and glossy without being dry and brittle as sometimes can happen with some of these treatments. Do read the label if doing it at home, as some can contain quite nasty chemicals and have a real chemical smell which I find can cause more damage than good.
Hope this helps.
I have never heard of Jazzing DarkMoon, is it good? Must look into that as I'm quite addicted to new and wonderful things that I come across and read about, much to my Husbands disgust. |

It's a Clairol product and it's not available in Oz. I purchased it in "Clear" on Ebay and am about to try it out tonight - will report back. |

I happen to have used Clairol's clear jazzing yesterday for the 2nd time. The first time, I didn't see any results, but I think it was due to my hair not being clean. I happen to use TONS of products to increase the curl in my hair, and only shampoo once every 2-3 or 4 wks (very dry hair). Anyway, yesterday I shampoo'd first, then applied the Jazz, sat under a hair dryer with a cap on for 30 mins, then shampoo'd it out. My hair is about 40% shinier and very soft today, but still maintaining nice curls. I like it, I like it! |

I've just done my treatment - and can't say I see any results. I washed my hair first, only applied about quarter to half of the bottle because my hair is very short and fine. I wrapped my hair in Gladwrap and waited 30 minutes - I didn't use a hair dryer because it's so hot and humid at the moment, I couldn't stand any extra heat.
Will see what it looks like in the daylight tomorrow. |

My experience with Clairol's clear jazzing is it looked great after the application but beyond that no effect. I will try again and see if I get results after the initial use. |

Yes I'm thinking about those things that you buy and do it at home (I try to go to the salon as little as possible). I have seen the "John Frieda" one, one by L'Oreal and I think one by herbal shine.
I don't understand/know how the products leave your hair shiny for weeks... how does it happen? I'm scared of putting harsh chemicals on my hair
BTW, I just read some bad reviews on the John Frieda one here @ EDS So should I go to the salon and get one professional one done? And what does it do to your hair? |

Hi Josee,
I explained how the Jazzing works on the thread below, you apply at home to freshly washed damp hair, applying heat helps a great deal. It works by coating each hair strand, fills the cuticle layer of the hair. I get great results with it and I am using it over colored hair (no choice anymore).

Mmmm... after the rave reviews I think I'm wanna try it without even knowing how the heck it adds shine!
Where do you buy it? |

I find it at Sally's Beauty supply it's a Clairol product.
Anything that smooths the cuticle layer of our hair adds shine, I am sure there is more to it but I haven't investigated it, I just know it works really well for me. |

What would one of these products do for thick, course, wavy hair w/ cowlicks?
I'd like to go for a more 'natural' look that seems popular right now, the looser, wavy look. But, with my cowlicks, I have trouble restraining those and my hair settles into the strangest positions. I straighten it most days w/ a flat iron and occasionally will do a curly look (with lots of product and scrunching involved).
Can these tame a little 'wild' hair?? Perhaps make it more managable?
I can get the shiney look w/ the products and flat iron I already use, anyway. |

Honestly foxe, you may get a tiny amount of what you are looking for, but not enough that I would recommend it for control at all. I love the shine, and used to use the colors for fun, now I use for 2 reasons I get great shine and it seals my color in so it doesn't fade. Sorry! |

Have you tried the Moroccan Oil type products? |

DM - sealing in color would be a great reason for me to try it. my color is never as good as the week I walk out of the salon.
Keliu- I'm actually using a Morrocan oil (generic from Sally's) that I love. It gives me great shine and protection from the heat of the iron. But, for shine on the days I do a curly 'do', it'd be nice to have it already there (or for getting control of wild pieces for a wavy look) |

I have tried a few different shine treatments or semi-permanent glaze.
The best was Redken EQ shades done at the salon.
Second best and more affordable is L'oreal demi in clear available from Sally's. Sally's also sells the Ion clear colour and as per the hair board on Makeupalley it is even better. Both of these products require the actual colour tube (or clear) and the developer.
I tried years ago the Jazzing from Clariol. I am not sure why I only used it once.
I tried the John Frieda colour glaze for blondes years ago. I hated it! It felt like I had product on my hair and the shine was very little. I think it may have been reformulated.
If money is no object and you like to visit the salon; I suggest Redken Shades EQ. The salon I went to charged an extra $25.00 with a haircut or extra $20.00 as a colour overlay after highlights.

The Jazzing doesn't require any developer so I prefer that as any developer damages the hair to some extent.
I have tries Cellophanes which was available to professionals only but liked it much less than the jazzing?
I can only go by what works for me (and friends) that I used it on. |

I've used both the John Fredia hair glaze and Morrocan oil. The first product left my hair really dry and I find I needed to use a conditioner afterwards rather than before it. It didn't make my hair shiny at all, I used it to primarily to take the brassiness out of my hair, which it did. It's great for toning down my highlights. But for shine and gloss it's useless. As for the Morrocan oil, that's great if your hair is more on the dry side and you use a lot of styling tools. I know people who love the product and it leaves their hair really shiny and soft. Unfortunately for me, it left me with greasy hair that went limp and flat!! It felt so terrible I had to wash my hair again after I blowed dried my hair. |

DarkMoon - do you think I should have applied the whole bottle of Jazzings? It seemed like too much because I don't have much hair, and what I do have is very fine. |

I really doubt that Keliu, the product should saturate barely damp hair enough where you can tell it's well coated but not dripping. I know you have a heat wave as it's summer there but adding heat really helps. It may take more than one application on bleached hair due to more damage? Another possibility is the hair must be not just clean, but free of any excess styling or conditioning agents that prevent it from coating your hair. |

I was thinking about my method of application and aside from using a heat cap, which really cooks the product in by opening the cuticle layer, I always allow my hair to cool to normal prior to rinsing it out, cool closes the cuticle layer. That might be what helps with the results I get? |

Ok...so I used the glaze on Sunday and I have had the best two hair days IN YEARS since doing it. My never-shiney-hair, has had a little bit of shine and been curlier than usual and the wild gray ones do seem to be a little tamer. I think you should try it Foxe. I am really impressed so far! |

Which glaze did you end up using? Did you use heat with it?
I just had my hair highlighted at the salon last weekend and plan on using a glaze this weekend.
I am glad it turned out so well!! |
