Hi
I'm a browser on these forums- as I desperately need help with my skin!
I suffer from severe freckles (sun damage from daily sun in a tropical country- without sunscream!) across my cheeks, acne scarring and the odd spot here and there- as well as easily dehydrated skin. I also have the most severe dark circles I have ever seen- period- which were not caused by hyperpigmentation. I have not been seen without makeup since I was 12 by anyone except my boyfriend. Honest. I wouldn't want to scare anyone. (I'm in mid/late twenties now). I honestly don't know where to start with it all, so far it's sunscreen and vitamin C (PSF) in the am and retinol at night.
I recently started using tretinoin 0.025% (Stieva A cream). However, I'm worried I may be applying it too near my eyes/nose and have been absorbing it as I keep getting an aftertaste- much like that of eyedrops- at the back of my mouth a few minutes after applying. It has scared me a lot, as I worry I may be somehow ingesting it through my tear ducts..and I've also read a case of a lady who had severe eye problems through using tretinoin which indicated that she was suffering from a 'toxic reaction' to the drug.
Has anyone else suffered this side effect? What am I doing wrong when I'm applying it?
Note- I've used skinceuticals 0.5% retinol and had no problems with this side effect. I'm so worried I'm considering going back to the SC retinol but upping it to 1%.
Thank you very much! |

No actually, started RA 0.025% , 2-3 months ago (used 1 green cream #9 first) and no sensation of ingestion with RA. I do recall in the insert it says to keep away from mucous membranes. I do apply to my entire face, but avoid lips and nostril openings. |
