Actually I am looking for a nice cherry colour that doesn't turn orange . I don't mind that is fading , all the reds are fading , but I just don't want it to be transformed in orange and for sure not after one week. My hairstylist is great - I really love her - but her reds are not so nice , so I was thinking to do my research and to bring her the product .. Any suggestions ladies? |

I use this which you add to your permanent color aids in preventing fading and boosts the red as well. I color my own at home.

Get professional haircolour from beauty shop, not drugstore. Red is the colour that is most likely to fade; also, if you have a lot of grey you might want an intensity that seems darker, in order to avoid the orange-y look. This is where professional advice really pays off. Use developer at the lowest intensity that works (I use 10%) as this is gentler on the hair. Professional haircolour has a standardized tonal intensity grading (look for RM, RR etc).
A good idea would be to go to a colour specialist and ask her what she has used on you when you get a colour that suites your complexion and taste. Likely it is a mix, but if you get the same intensities you can get a reasonable match. And only recolour the roots or you will get uneven colour and unlovely buildup. I prefer my haircolour mucho cheapo (about $3 per treatment) and no surprises. |

thanks DM - I ordered it .
Mismis - thanks to you too:) - That is exactly what I am looking for a good professional brand as i am not happy with what my stylist is using for the red highlights and I don't want to go in other place - so the only solution is to get something better for her . I don't have to many grays so not sure where this orange is coming from... so any good professional brand with a nice deep red that can be ordered online? |

The only issue can be that some brands are available to licensed professionals only, Sally's carries some decent brands, as a retired cosmetologist honestly one of my favorites they carry is Wella Color Charm, I use the Black Cherry myself. Just how dark of a red are you looking for? |

I told my colorist that as soon as they invent red color that lasts a long time, to book me in! That is the only thing stopping me from becoming a redhead a la Nicole Kidman. I couldn't afford the upkeep. |

That's one of the advantages of hair that grows like a weed, I have to color my roots every 3 weeks anyway, so I don't get a chance to fade! |

You may find mixing one of the lighter red's such as Red Red (a pure red) with say Black Cherry (an auburn red) 50/50, to obtain just that right shade you want. My natural color is very dark brown and even Black Cherry is a number of shades lighter. |

Up above (message box) in the tabs above there is Img, click that and add the image URL from photpbucket, or whatever online source you use to save pictures in. |

Softskin, cost is so important. So are results!
Just get what you want from stylist, ask EXACTLY which products used and DIY. Sometimes you can buy product from stylist - mine does this; she knows I get enquiries and that I look really good & will recommend her! Otherwise use the tonal directives (RR RM etc). I have to do roots every 10 days!! and couldn't otherwise afford colouring. "Old" but "heathy" = fast growing but grey hair. It's a good thing, as
Martha woud say. |

No way would I ever color my hair myself. It's worth every penny having it done right by someone who knows what he's doing -- that wouldn't be me! |

Just the opposite here, NO WAY would I pay to have someone else do what is so simple to do at home! |
