I have minimal lines (only when I smile) and now getting a little puffiness under my eye when i smile (which i only notice in photos) but want to take preventive measures.
I usually just put whatever face cream i have or a little olive oil under my eyes.

Believe it or not, I've found the best "treatment" is using nothing at all or using Vaseline Petroleum Jelly.
I got this tip years ago from Eva Fraser (www.evafraser.com) and then in my mid-twenties, a lady at a cosmetic counter in a department store implored me to buy an eye cream. She told me that even though I had no problems with my under-eye area, I needed to take preventative measures. She was a much older lady and her eyes didn't look that great and I just suspected if what she was saying was true, then maybe she waited too long to use the creams. Anyway, I gave her suggestion the benefit of the doubt and tried it. My eyes got puffy!!! Clearly creams didn't agree with me and Eva's suggestion that I shouldn't use them was right. I stopped and went back to using just Vaseline if anything, or just going bare. It's been over 15 years of me doing this and my eyes are better w/o creams.
I did come across a few articles that also suggested that no cream should be left under the eyes for long periods of time. And then on Extreme Makeover, a doctor operating on a patient's eyes explained that the gunk that was under the skin is seen in people who use eye creams--which might explain the puffing I noticed. The more I thought about it, the more I concluded that moisturizers are supposed to supplement our own body's sebum. So places where there are lots of pores, then more moisture is needed and places with fewer pores probably are better off with less. Now because under the eyes are very few pores, I assume God never intended for that area to be smothered in products. So all of the above encouraged me to keep things simple and follow Eva's suit.
And so far, I couldn't be happier. A few people have given this eccentric suggestion a try and found that Vaseline actually worked better than other creams and become converts too. I think what Vaseline does is prevent moisture loss.
Anyway, proponents of eye creams say that sometimes you do have to try a few before you find THE ONE, so if Vaseline doesn't tickle your fancy, hopefully you'll get some tried-and-true recs from those who've tested what's out there. |

I love Osmosis Refresh PM - although I use it both in the AM and PM
You only need a tiny pat of it. I have been using it for almost 3 years and couldnt be happier with the stuff. I am 40 and dont have any crow's feet or fine lines around my eyes at all, whereas when I used regular eye creams I could see fine lines emerging.
Back when I was 26 a facialist who was doing a treatment on me said I really needed to use an eye cream as I was dehydrated around my eyes and getting wrinkles! eeeeeek! can you imagine my horror!? lol Today these wrinkles she spoke of dont exist!
My eye area does look better now than in photos from my 20's... If in doubt always check your old photos and compare, dont rely on your memory alone |
