I bought Neutrogena's Rapid Wrinkle product with retinol and before I used it I read some alarming things about retin A which I'm sure many of you are aware of. Should I be AS worried about retinol? I know it's similar to retin A but not as effective or as strong as retin A - I think.
A little background, I'm 33 and recently suffered some severe skin wrinkling and pore enlargement from a bad reaction to a topical. Now I'm trying to reverse the wrinkles and pore enlargment that only took about a week to occur. My skin aged about 10 years inside of a week and that was 2 months ago with the damage being permanent I'm afraid.
I also just bought the LightStim and am using cetaphil along with vitamin C serum. Thanks, |

For me I just never found retinol to be effective & I had been using it for years. I've done a bit of reading on retin a and I can tell you if you use it properly and as advised , and start off slow, it may not be as bad as you think. But then again Im not sure what you mean by you have read "bad things" about it? Im presuming you mean how people complain about dryness and peeling and such...but then again I should not presume should I
Personally I've experienced no ill effects from it so far.A littel dryness now and then around the cheek area, but nothing a good moisturiser doesnt fix.
Since you have had a bad experience with this other topical it may be wise to seek some help to try and help you heal. So sorry about that & hope some others can give some good advise.
Here's a good link to retin-a versus retinol http://www.smartskincare.com/smartchoices/myths/myth_retinol_retina.html
