Do I do this every night or just a few times a week? What would I do on the other nights if I don't do this?
Thank You! |

Many use it every night. You can even use it in the morning and at night(twice a day). I use t maybe 3 times a week. I like to alternate cleaners and usually just do a water wash in the morning. I still haven't found an HG cleanser, so hopefully someone else will be able to help. Do you have dry skin, acne, aging skin, oily skin, ...? |

Hello! I have combo skin!
Is it necessary to use a cleanser when using the OCM 2-3 times a week? Wouldn't the cleanser make your skin very dry? How about just washing your face with water the next day after every OCM? Or should a mild cleanser be used?
I also have 2 friends that would like to know how many times they can use it. One has dry skin and the other one is oily.
Thank You! |

Its different for everyone, based on the rest of your routine and the types of oils you choose. And most of all, how you react to it, and if you like it!
I wouldn't go too crazy, especially at the beginning, because a lot of people experience a purging period where everything comes to the surface and they suffer horrible breakouts. I'm sure any potential irritation would just make that worse.
I don't like using a seperate cleanser, so I've started mixing an emulsifier with my oils so that I can just rinse them off with water. I used to just wipe them off after steaming my face with a hot microfibre cloth, but I wasn't able to be gentle enough, so I don't use the microfibre as often anymore. People also like wiping it off with a muslin (soft cotton) cloth, where you don't need to be as careful as you do with microfibre.
There are several long OCM threads on here which you can skim for loads of other peoples' experiences and suggestions. |

Hi Morocha I am of the persuasion that everything should be done in moderation. So I alternate OCM with plain water washes whereby I use a face cloth under the lukewarm water of a shower and gently "scrub" my face with it till it's clean.
I got the idea of plain water washes from a lady with oily skin who uses NOTHING on her skin to wash or moisturize. Just plain water and a cloth yet her skin looked amazing.
I don't have oily skin. Or I should say, I used to have combination/dry skin so I was nervous about trying the plain water washes and also of not applying any moisturizer thereafter. But I have not had any problems and my skin seems "normal" and sometimes appears to be oily. (Well, after a couple of days of doing the plain water washes--at the very begining of my hearing about them--the test strips they have at the Body Shop read my face as "oily". All I know is I don't find myself worrying about dryness anymore.) In fact sometimes I'll do the plain washes more often than I do OCM. |

Nonie,
I've never heard of a plain water wash.
How do you know, however, that your skin is really clean afterward? Do you ever worry that there's still dirt that's left behind? |

VeronicaM all my face cloths are white and I use them only once. If one gets soiled too much, I get another, but usually I use it folded in half under a shower head of lukewarm water (usually I'm taking a full body shower), and I just use the cloth (in lieu of a scrub or other abrasion) and massage my face. I turn it over and use the part(s) of it that hasn't (haven't) been in contact with my face. I know my face is clean because the final side or cloth I use remains white because there is no more dirt. My face feels so clean too and smooth without being dry.
I've been doing that since 2006. No regrets here. |

I've been an OCM user for years now. On my off days or when I'm feeling lazy, I use Philosophy's Purity with my Mia.
Nothing beats OCM, but Philosophy's Purity and Mia come pretty close. |

How often do you do OCM these days? TIA |

Thank you so much!!! I did some shopping at Garden of Wisdom, should be showing up in the next day or so. Can I just use a normal cotton washcloth(from bed bath beyond, etc?). |
