Hi all I've been reading all the great recipes for vitamin C serums and have made my own which works great! Here is the recipe I have used which I believe I saw somewhere on here:

1 tsp L-Ascorbic Acid
1/3 cc/ml (.3) of Vitamin E Oil
1/3 cc/ml (.3) of Hyaluronic Acid
1 tsp sea emollient
4 tsp Distilled H2O

I mixed the sea emollient with the HA before incorporating it into the rest and it seemed to completely dissolve after being in the fridge overnight. I tested the PH and it was between 2 and 3. I have strips that don't measure less than whole numbers.

My question is that I would like to incorporate FE into this serum and I am thinking 1/8 tsp mixed with 1/4 tsp of vodka before mixing all together. I have been reading that FE is difficult to dissolve and people recommend vodka. Does this sound like a good recipe? I have also seen recipes that say its a PH of 5 for the c, e, & FE serum but I thought the PH should be 3.5 or lower to get the vit c to properly absorb into the skin?

Also, I purchased a gram scale and I was wondering how the tsp measurements translate to grams? Is it 5 grams per tsp like in cooking? I believe that is liquid measurement but powders differ in weight. What would an 1/8 tsp of FE be in grams? And is the sea emollient 5 grams in a tsp?

I appreciate in advance any replies that I get!! I'm so happy to join this forum!

Hi Lizzy! The link below is to a site that has allot of good info as well as a calculator to help you convert teaspoon to gram. By FE do you mean Ferulic Acid?

Ferulic Acid only takes a very small amt of the vodka to disolve it. Only enough to make a paste. I use witch hazel. If we had vodka around here I'd be drinking it.

Haha I tried the vodka and it actually irritated my skin even though I used 1/4 tsp. I now also use Witch Hazel. But I am reading conflicting reports that FA dissolves clear or into a milky white liquid. I only get a milky white liquid. Is this right?
