I use the pump style lip plumping devices. I've used the red 'Luscious lips' one and that white Jolie pump and I just recently acquired a new one by 'Candylipz'

It seems to have a really good suction in comparison to my other pumps. The LL in particular never seemed to hold suction long enough. This new one also doesn't leave as many red marks around mouth as other ones I've tried and I like less pulling/redness/irritation because I'm scared of these pumps creating wrinkles down the road as I age.

Does anyone have any ideas on getting the plump to last longer with these devices? I'm also having trouble using the Candylipz pump that has the two lobed lip divider thing, wondering if anyone has tried it? The style that gives you the indentation through the bottom lip to supposedly make it look kind of Angelina Jolie-ish?

I did a search on board for 'candylipz' and found nothing so I'm hoping it was ok I opened a new topic, I haven't ever done that before?

Carlingus,

I've also used the Luscious Lips device, and while it worked well, the dye always leeched out onto my face. It was definitely the dye, not just redness from the suction, and that made it such a huge inconvenience, I never got much use out of it. The Candylipz device, as long as it gets decent suction, looks like a step up from LL. Even the shape is better because it's more compact and one could take it with them if they're in the habit of carrying a purse or a bag.

You say you've recently acquired this -- do you like it? Can it be used when you're out somewhere without having to remove and reapply your lipstick? About how long does the plumping effect last before you need to reuse it? You asked about how to get the plumping effect to last longer -- the website says that after the initial adjustment period, you can use it nightly and over time, your lips will stay semi-plumped indefinitely. I have no idea if it would work this way for everyone or even most users, and no idea if the "semi-plump" is a noticeable difference.

I'm really tempted to look into this, though. I notice that some reviewers mention a "lip corrector" tool, and there's a product by that name listed, but it appears to be out of stock. I don't know if it's temporarily out of stock, or if it's now sold with the device(s) and is no longer offered separately, but if decide to give this a try, I'll send them an email and ask about this before I pull the trigger.

Once you've had more time to use it, I hope you'll post some updates!

Hi!

I've been using the device twice daily...seems to last in the am for about 2hours. The more I talk the less the plump sticks which was the same with the other pumps. I am also interested in seeing if the effects can be cumulative, staying plump longer/indefinitely.

Some things I like are the hands free aspect of it, so even if I'm short on time before work I can do it while using my hands to do something else. It's white around the part that touches your mouth so I'd assume no color leeching.

I've never brought the Candylipz pump along with me to use during the day, too bulky and I carry a small purse and I really wouldn't want to redo my lip liner/lipstick/gloss. I know some people use these kinds of devices multiple times a day and they have better results than I do, I just couldn't do it.

I also think using my city lips lip plumper and my micro current devices around the mouth helps plump them quite significantly. I'm up for trying anything to increase lip volume short of injections/implants just yet...I want to try and not go down that route until I'm a little older.

Lowbrowscientist: is there anything else you've tried that's had a noticeable effect on volume?

Not to butt in but, have you tried using dipalmitoyl hydroxyproline for lip plumping?

OSEA uses it in their Eyes&Lips product and I use it too in my products. I can really feel it plumping the lips and it gives a nice fullness. Effect is cumulative, so reapply frequently!

This is from the FAQs:

Candylipz FAQ: wrote:

HOW LONG DOES THE LIP ENHANCEMENT LAST?

[...]With daily long-term use, this look may last for up to four hours or longer.

HOW IMPORTANT IS NIGHTTIME APPLICATION?

Believe it or not, the best way to enhance the appearance of your lips and to help your lips look LUSCIOUSLY FULLER in the long run is to do your daily nighttime application! [...] If you use the nightly application consistently, you may not need to use the lip pump frequently during the day! When you are not talking and moving, the lip skin stays stretched for five to six hours. This practice allows your lips to naturally build, rebuild, and produce collagen fibers that fill the stretched lip skin. This is why you appear to have fuller lips in the long run. If you have lip pits, grooves, or dimples, watch! They will eventually go away!

This second quote (edited here for brevity) is what's making me think I might just jump on this!

Thanks for the feedback on the size. I don't carry a purse, so I wouldn't be able to use this on-the-go. I'd love to see a pocket-sized device that could be used for touch-ups when we're out and about, but I guess that's not very realistic.

Sadly, no. I just had juvederm this summer for the first time, and I LOVED the way it filled out my lips and enhanced my disappearing lip-line, but I'm not sure if my injector is very experienced because there were some lumps and odd creases that I wasn't thrilled with. Now, my lips are pretty deflated and I'm due for another injection, but I want to hold off awhile. I'm hoping CL might be a better option in the meantime, until I decide what (if anything) I could do to improve things. I've been thinking about fat injections, but there are only 2 surgeons I'd trust to do that, and even in the best hands, things can always go wrong, and those surgeons charge astronomical prices. Which, by the way, may be entirely warranted... I'm sure their work is worth it, but it does mean that us lesser mortals in lower tax brackets will have to forgo those options Laughing

Fawnie, thanks for the OSEA suggestion! Smile

After re-reading the FAQ and looking things over some more, I went ahead and bought a Candylipz Pump.

Carlingus, how long was the ship time for yours? Their shipping policy says that they ship within 24 hours (or the next business day) unless they're backordered. I ordered on Thursday afternoon, and have yet to get a shipping notice, and there was nothing indicating that the product was back-ordered. I'm going to be disappointed if they don't get it shipped out tomorrow...

I'll update here after it arrives and I've had a chance to use it a bit.

Thanks, I sent them an email. Not a huge deal, but it's rather disappointing that they're not on top of that Neutral

I do hope your lips start holding the plump a little longer! Maybe it just takes time to build up to that? I'm thinking it might take a few months of regular use. Unfortunately, 2 hours was about all I got with the Luscious Lips pump, too.

Edited to add: someone at Candylipz got back to me with a tracking number, and it was shipped out on the 5th. You're right, their customer service is very responsive! Makes me feel a lot better about ordering from them.

Give it time -- you'll probably continue to see improvement over the next few months! I just noticed this in the FAQ section:

Quote:

Q: I have a very thin upper lip, can I double or even triple the height of my upper lip?

A: The upper lip is a bit more difficult to enlarge than the lower lip. However, after 6 months of daily use and night time applications, some individuals may double and triple the height of their upper lips. All individual results may vary.

So after 6 months of regular daily use, plus the nightly treatments, whatever we have at that point will probably be as good as it's going to get. But in the meantime we should start to see improvements Smile

I bought the Jolie pump after tiring of the red dye leeching from the LL device, too, and have owned it for a year and a half or so. It's definitely a better tool- easy to use, more portable, no dye, less expensive, and they scented the rubber vanilla for christ's sake. I don't get quite 2 hours out of it, though, but maybe I'll give it a try daily to see if there's any cumulative effect. It matters little to me, though, as I like having it for short-term special events and the like. Thanks, fawnie, too for the dipalmitoyl hydroxyproline suggestion.

My Candylipz pump arrived about 10 days ago, and I haven't gotten through the break-in / adaption period yet. This is because I'm prone to bruising around my lips, and I need to take it much slower than the CL directions advise. I'm guessing it will be another week or two until I can use it with full suction twice a day, for the maximum recommended time, plus an extended session in the evening. Having said that, this might be a nice way to extend the life of Juvederm injections.

Here's how it seems to work for me:

Immediately after use -- significant plumping, 70 to 80 percent of which dissipates quickly

Several hours after use -- about a 20 percent plump remains, enough to be noticeable, without any additional usage

Nighttime use: Lips are noticeably bigger the next morning (not nearly as plump as they are immediately after use, of course) and that mild plumping effect seems to last a good hour or two. (I don't usually use the pump the next day until this has completely dissipated)

In short, even though I'm still in the break-in period, the plumping effect has more longevity than expected. I attribute this to the Juvederm. Also, it's very possible that the using the pump will cause the Juvederm to metabolize more quickly. But, so far, although the significant plumping effect fades pretty quickly, thanks to the Juvy there's still some improvement even after a few hours.

My lips have been pretty deflated for awhile, and without the pump, I'd be ready for another injection. (In fact, I was ready for another injection in early November Neutral ) So, ultimately, if things keep going this way, I'll consider this a worthy investment for helping to extend time between Juvy injections. At the moment, I've been building up very slowly, and I'm still experiencing some bruising around my lips, which forces me to stop using it for a day or two. Hopefully my lips will adapt quickly, and I'll be able to use it consistently with stronger suction. I think that will be the real test.

As for the company itself -- the pump arrived within a reasonable time period, and it was well-packaged. Also, as I noted in an earlier post, their customer service is very responsive! So, overall, my experience is that this is a reputable product from a reputable company.

Hi!

It's still my favorite lip pump, having tried various types. I think the results are worthwhile if you stay consistent, perhaps someone that knows themselves well enough to admit they won't stay consistent would be better advised to look elsewhere for their plumping, but if one knows they have the willpower to keep it up this thing definitely will give you a plumper lip. I'm still using mine fairly faithfully, nowadays I pump once a day. The plump stays visible to my eye for at least a couple hours. I'm too lazy to pump at night lately. I had better results when I was doing it twice a day. I think the issue with this one Wanderlust, is the price. The 'Jolie' pump, if I remember correctly, was cheaper..you might look into that one too.

Lowbrow is a good source of info, maybe she'll chime in too
