For dehydrated acne prone/combo skin? I am working to rebuild my lipid barrier as my skin is extremely dehydrated. From reading some posts I am considering Skin Actives every lipid serum but am also looking for a moisturizer to use over this. Am I correct that I will need a moisturizer over this product ? tia

You could try the CeraVe PM lotion. It's relatively inexpensive and has the three things you're looking for as well as niacinamide and hyaluronic acid. It's a lotion though, so you might want to try the general cream if you're skin is really dry (the cream is the same but lacks the latter two ingredients and has petrolatum). There will be others but i think CeraVe is usually the first recommendation if you're wanting to repair the barrier. Hope that helps!

Thx. Yes Cerave is rec'd a lot, I guess I'm trying to be fancy by ordering something not drugstore but since it is well liked can't hurt to try it. I hope it doesn't clog my pores like it has for others. Thx again Smile

Cerave is nice. I've tried it. Also psf does nice moisturisers with ceramides. I also use argan oil on damp skin to help with lipid barrier.
They work well with combination dehydrated skin and I don't break out.

I ended up buying Cerave Moisturizing Lotion regular not PM and am testing out First Aid cleanser. I find the cleanser leaves me a little dry so am looking for something else, think I will order the Cellbone cleanser. Cerave helps a little but I still find I'm dry around my mouth, but I'm always dry around this area, hopefully the Cellbone with its lower PH will not leave me as dry so I can see if I like the Cerave lotion better.

Hi cocoagirl, you may want to check out Earth Science a c e cleanser. It is a cream cleanser with a ph of 5.5 I like it a lot. Very gentle and pretty cheap.

Hey thanks for the sugg, I think I actually looked at that but wasn't sure about using something with so many oils. I just stopped OCM b/c I don't think it was agreeing with me. I found my oily/dehydrated skin dry with OCM so am currently looking for a cream or gel cleanser with no oils or not a lot of oils. Something in the FAB cleanser obviously isn't agreeing with me either. I'm still trying to figure out what ingredients my skin doesn't like...smh

skinactives every lipid serum is very emollient, if u have acne prone skin you may end up breaking out.. it's 100% oil.. u could add few drops to a moisturizer before applying it though...

I have had oily skin my whole life but since going through "the change" it has started to dry out. I have been using this cleanser for a while now, even when I had really oily skin and I never had any problems with the cleanser breaking me out. I did try OCM but it never agreed with my skin. Try to stay away from cleansers that have sodium laureth sulfates. Those can bother some skin types. Good luck.

I use the Earth Science toner which contains hyaluronic acid. Be aware that some people who live in drier climates say HA causes moisture to draw out of their skin. Cerave never worked well for me, but I have had some success using other products with HA.

I use derm-e hydrating cleanser:

As for "fatty acids" I only use coconut oil but only at night since it doesn't sink in that well.
