Hello everyone,

I'm going in for a consultation on the 6th of june at Colorado Plastic Surgery center because I'm thinking about getting a laser treatment done.

However I barley even need one, all I want to fix is tons of small red marks that fill up my face area.

Whats the gental-ist option? annnd what are the pros of getting laser treatments?

I would appericate it!

The 540 IPL head works great for brown pigment, the 515 IPL head works for red pigments. At least these are the heads for the Alma Harmony laser system.

After many, many IPL's through the years (and they do help), the best laser I have EVER had for redness/rosacea/red marks was the Cutera EXCEL Laser. I don't know if they have it there but it was well worth the 5-10 day recovery and very reasonably prices in comparison.

Could the 540 IPL that treats "brown pigment" also be used on freckles/flat moles/hyperpigmentation?

yep. brown is brown. That is why the IPL doesn't work as well on darker skin tones because there is brown everywhere!

I have a mole/freckle on by my belly button that has been driving me nuts for 10 years and I zapped it on Saturday. It just flaked off so in a few days I can decide if it needs another zap.

Nice! Was it a flat or raised mole? Please let me know if it scarred or not! I have a bunch of moles on my face that I'm worried will scar, so would love to hear about your experience.

It was flat, now it is a little dented. But it will heal.

I got a few of these small red raised dots on my body that look like their filled with blood, not sure what they're called. Hopefully the derm can get rid of those with a laser. Along with all the dark flat blemishes. I'm worried about scarring also. There are so many ways to get rid of them, from home treatments that make them fall off, to ultrasound shaving at the office, cauterizarion, laser, etc. I just want the one that has the least chance of scarring and fastest healing. Wearing all these small bandages on my face for weeks is going to suck! If I get hypopigmentation spots on my face after they heal then that is going to really suck!

@Eycandy I know! I'm so worried about that too. Hypopigmentation doesn't worry me as much as an indented scars, but both wouldn't be great.

dermarolling has good results for indented scars. Or single needling or stamping, depending.

I think the little red ones are called cherry angioma.

Hey, Laura Lizzie,

just wondering how your wound-healing has been going? I hope there wasn't any scar formation?

It is still gone. I am left with a colorless circle circle with a bit of a shine to it. Probably need to dermapen it next time I do my face. The spot wasn't bothering me, it was more a science experiment.

I wish I could remember the one type of laser I had that left my face covered in purple polka dots for three weeks. I couldn't even hide them with makeup. Never again! My derm never warned me and it wasn't until I googled later that I found out that was everyone's complaint. Yes, most of the redness and capillaries went away but I wish I had been warned so I could have gone on vacation afterward.

Glad that is working, it just takes time!
I have to always have downtime on any laser procedure I do so it is very difficult to schedule around. Anything I can do on my own is a bonus.
