I saw a derm and was prescribed epiduo which is 2.5% benzoyl peroxide and 0.1% adapalene. I have cystic acne in my jawline and in my forehead. I put this cream on my jawline and been using it for a few weeks already. Before i used it, i had about 5 cystic pimples in that area and now, its cystic pimples galore. I felt like the epiduo has damaged my jawline completely. But im still using it because i read ppl say it takes months to get better but the amount of cystic pimples in that area has me very worried. If i quit epiduo, does that mean i shouldn't even bother with the regimen as the regimen is benzoyl peroxide?

I read ppl mention how dan's benzoyl peroxide didn't work well for them but epiduo did. Someone else mention dan benzoyl peroxide work for them and now they decide to use epiduo and it works for them as well.

Should i bother with dan's regimen if epiduo doesn't work and has made my skin worst? I never had this much cystic acne before using epiduo.

I also like to add i tried dan's regimen back many years ago and i stopped it but i didn't remember what was the reason. I did recall it made my face red a lot.

I haven't tried Dan's exact regimen but basically all that it is is a gentle cleanser, a benzoyl peroxide treatment and a light moisturizer. You could definitely try this because it could just be that your skin doesn't like the retinol that's in epiduo but it could also definitely be that your skin doesn't like benzoyl peroxide. I used Epiduo for one month and it cleared me up without an initial break out at all...I just quit using it because I didn't want to have to get the prescription refilled...but anyways, I would say that you should try using the Epiduo for a while longer. Like maybe another month or so but if it doesn't heal then you could try just the benzoyl peroxide. I would also give your skin a break in between if you do switch, maybe like 2 weeks to a month. I know it can be frustrating but just remember, you are NOT alone in this fight! (didn't mean to get all deep but you know...lol)

This article says you should expect things to get worse at the beginning with Adapalene.

And an other...it sounds like you are seeing exactly what you should be at this stage (even though I am sure it sucks):

Hang in there!
