Sorry in advance for the long post. I am an 18 year old girl, with hormonal acne. pretty much the only way to keep my acne under control is birth control. my skin was great up until my pharmacy switched my bc to another generic equivalent to the generic form of birth control I had been on for a while. on the third week of my bc pack of the new pills my whole entire face literally within the course of two nights completely broke out in cystic acne, also right before it broke out I had used an old makeup so I'm not sure if it was the bc switch or a reaction to the makeup but nonetheless I went into panic mode. I began washing my face with hibiclens which cleared most of it up within a week and a half but I was left with major PIH. I used calamine lotion to calm the PIH (works wonderfully) and began to wash with a neutrogena cleanser... all of this time NEVER using a moisturizer. before this horrid breakout I could put pretty much anything on my skin even tanning lotions full of parabens and fragrances and even underwent the purging stages of coconut oil a while back and could use that too. however after when I tried to put on any moisturizer my skin would automatically react until I used Burt's bees for sensitive skin. I was grateful not to have a reaction but it doesn't seem to be moisturizing enough...and my facial redness hasn't really faded. the pih marks have healed but the lower half of my face (cheeks, chin/jawline and nose) is like a tomato. I recently tried coconut oil again but it has made me breakout so I'm stopping it tonight and just cleansing with water/ using Burt's moisturizer. I just don't know if I ruined my skin by all this, please any opinions at all would be amazing. |

I'm sure you haven't ruined your skin. I understand skin issues can be so very frustrating -- at least they are to me.
If you have access to a derm, I would go see one. He/she can make the appropriate diagnosis and get you on the right track.
If a derm is not an option, I would give your skin a little break from all the products, then look into a product line like Proactiv or Serious Skin Care's Seriously Clear line. Both come with moisturizers as well as products to clear up the breakouts. |

I know it's a long way to solve this problem. My suggestion is check your food, don't eat too spicy.Keep your skin clean and moisture. |

Your old makeup could be the culprit. I once went to use old liquid foundation, and saw some sort of parasites crawling in the liquid! Here is an article regarding this...http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/releases/79273.php |

hey hunny
unfortunately teenage acne has a mind of its own ...keep away from perfumed skincare products and just clean ur face gently wit a warm soft face cloth and den splash cold water straight away to close the pores, use minimal make up plenty of water xx |

My body never liked generic bc pills. I found (for me) to switch to whatever was newest from the brand I liked. First I took Yasmine, Yaz, then Be-Yaz. This has been over 10 years so it isn't like I have been switching things up super often.
I am fine with generic drugs for everything else but not BC. |
