...want a substitute for Retin A?
I use an acid (LacSal lactic & salicylic acid) at night to prep my skin for the SkinBiology copper peptides in the AM. I don't plan to stop using the peptides so figure I should try another acid.
I won a $50 voucher here (thank you!) for posting on this forum. I was thinking there would be more makeup for sale but clicking on the long list of various brands, found very little. The only skin product I was planning to buy anyway was Retin A. So if there is something similar for sale here, I might as well try it for "free." |

If you scroll to the bottom of the shopping page; you can select ingredients. This is on the left side.
The only thing close to prescription Retin A is retinol (OTC strength). Obagi line has exfoliates for professional results. I have not used this line but many here do like it.
If the Skin Biology products work for you; why not purchase with your GC? |

I've been trying this one and like it so far. The product is a foam which, according the description, enables them to "combine ingredients like retinol, peptides, niacinamide and antioxidants and keep them pure and effective". Here's the ingredient listing:

Thanks for that Vivatia information and link.
What do some of our other skincare chemists think of that list of ingredients? It costs $90 for 1.7 oz but my cost would be $40 which seems like a good deal. I'm a simple girl and don't want to put a lot of "extras" on my face unnecessarily if some of those are just "filler." Bear in mind that I'd use the Vivatia in the PM and my copper peptides and estriol cream in the AM.
The Green Cream has alcohol as the second ingredient so that's why I'm not considering it.
I'm open to more suggestions so keep 'em coming! |

Water, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glycerin, Cetearyl Alcohol, C10-30 Cholesterol/ Lansterol Esters, Cetyl Ricinoleate, Cetyl Alcohol, Dimethicone, Polysorbate 60, Methyl Methacrylate/Glycol Dimethacrylate Crosspolymer, Benzyl Alcohol, Retinol, Ascorbic Acid, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Bisabolol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Cyclopentasiloxane, Cyclohexasiloxane, Peg-10 Soy Sterol, Stearic Acid, BHT, Propyl Gallate, Disodium EDTA, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate, Phenoxyethanol, Polysorbate 20, Triethanolamine, Methylparaben.
It doesn't peel my skin right off, but it does give me light flakes if I use it 2 nights in a row. If people tell me my skin looks great today, it is usually the day after I wear Nouvelle. I used to think retinols were too weak to do anything but this one has changed my mind. |

If I use this at night would all those ingredients be compatible with my morning SkinSignals copper peptides? I am supposed to exfoliate at night with acids to prepare the face for the CP in the morning. That is why I was thinking of buying generic Retin A micro as a replacement for my SkinBiology LacSal (lactic and salicylic acids) when it runs out very soon. But I will need to use my forum gift here before the end of the year. |

UPDATE: I decided to 'bite the bullet' and got real Retin A microgel .025% from the In House Pharmacy website. I use it every third night so far. It's only been a month.
I want to use a vitamin C serum on 'off nights' as I gradually increase the application days over time. So I still have the $50 credit on EDS. Which Vit. C serum from THIS site would be good for my purposes? Please keep in mind that I tried a C serum once (can't remember the brand) and it gave me blackheads. So I know I can't go too strong but I don't want it to be too weak either. Decisions! Your experience and input is appreciated! |
