I've been using Retin-A since around July. I'm 27, Australian, with very fair skin. For the first couple of months I was a little too lax when it came to sunscreen application: I applied it every 2-3 hours when out of the house, but didn't bother to apply it at home (hiding in dark rooms with all the shades drawn). I'm now applying sunscreen every two hours (teaspoon or so worth on my face) from shortly after the time I wake up to sunset. I also religiously wear hats or use a parasol if I go outside (have done that all along), with high sun protection factors.
Despite this, I'm finding more freckles are appearing on my face. Does this mean my sunscreen isn't strong enough?
Or could it just be caused by the stronger sun (summer is approaching here)? By that what I mean is, normal darkening of the freckles that tends to happen at this time of year?
I'm panicking that I'm still somehow damaging my skin! My sunscreen is Invisible Zinc SPF 30 moisturiser (UVA & UVB coverage), with 20% zinc oxide. |

I've been on Retin-A for the last couple of months and I have had the opposite effect... my freckles are actually getting lighter, and I am using SPF 30 as well... I live in Miami, so I am exposed to the sun quite a lot and very high temperatures... You might wanna up your SPF or see your dermatologist... |
