I use IT CC Powder that is advertised as having a physical SPF of 50. On another forum they were saying that SPF in a makeup like that is not enough. You should put on a lotion type SPF before the powder. First off it seems like a waste of money if I have to use to SPFs and secondly, when I apply it I can see the layer of protection on my skin unlike a lotion. I am confused. I apologized if this has been discussed before. Maybe someone can steer me to a informative post on the matter. Thank you in advance. |

I have been wondering the same thing. I really don't like having to put on sunscreen on my face, I hate the smell. |

An SPF powder is definitely insufficient when it comes to protecting your skin from the sun. To get the advertised amount of protection from a powder SPF, you'd have to cake it on to a ridiculous and uncomfortable degree.
So, the powder on its own is pretty much useless when it comes to sun protection. It adds a small extra amount of protection, but doesn't offer enough unless paired with a lotion.
Some people use the powder to cover up shine from the greasy SPF they use. Otherwise, you could leave it out of your routine if you want. |

The powder seems a good idea but when you realize it isn't going to protect you against UVA and UVB rays then it seems pointless. Like anything depending on how its used, I suspect it might provide some coverage but I would really not rely solely on the powder.
Another thing that I really like doing is applying Vit C serum after any exposure as that helps mop up the free radical damage too.
