Recently on a trip to spain I picked up a couple tubes of Tretinoin cream known as Retirides. The forumulation is quite different to Janssen Cilag Retin A Cream and just wondering if it should work the same way. At the moment I mix it with Obagi Blend-FX but it seems a slightly more runny consistency.
Here are a list of the ingredients for Retirides:
Active: Tretinoin 0.1%
Inactive: Decyl oleate, isopropyl myristrate, glyceryl monostearate, acetyl lanolin alcohol, ceteareth-30, cetyl alcohol, proline, monostearate of polyethylene glycol 400, urea, collagen, methylparaben, propylparaben, lactic acid, sodium citrate, sodium hydroxide, vitamin E, aroma, and purified water.
Would any of these ingredients be a problem. Wasn't sure about the lanolin alcohol however thought it was pretty cool they added collagen, proline, lactic acid and vit e.

Hi:
I have used this brand in the past and it seemed just as effective as other brands I used. I got the same initial peeling as I do with other brands. The only problem I had with this brand and with many cream brands is that it has a high percentage of isopropyl myristrate which can be a major pore clogger for some people. For me any cream with this ingredient in it clogs my pores and makes me break out. When I use the gel form I have no clogged pores.
So, this brand will give you same benefits as other retin-a products. |

lisacollins, thanks for your response.
I quite like the constency of the cream, but am prone to breakouts so yeah, isopropyl myristrate plus the lanolin alcohol could prove to be a problem. Never could figure out why companies add pore clogging ingredients to an anti-acne medication!
Good to know you got good results, genna keep using it and see how it compares to the janssen cilag brand.

Hello hello, i was also about to buy Retirides when your post did scare me . But, after checking the Retin A ingredients, i found out that it also has isopropyl myristate. Have a look
0.025% tretinoin in a bland, hydrophilic base. Nonmedicinal ingredients: butylated hydroxytoluene, isopropyl myristate, polyoxyl (40) stearate, purified water, sorbic acid, stearic acid, stearyl alcohol, and xanthan gum

I tried it for the first time last night. No irritation or any reaction whatsoever. It has a very strong fragrance. I had a feeling I had put on some women perfume |
