What would remedy dehydrated and oily skin which is a byproduct of shaving? What would work best? Aftershave, moisturizing balm, or witch hazel? When one shaves ones face, shaving strips the skin of its natural oils and to makeup for this the skin produces more oils! What would make the oily skin go away?

The skin releases a lot of sebum because it wants to protect itself from the negative effects of the environment. Those who actively use salicylic acid in high concentrations notice that the skin has become even more oily. Therefore, first of all, the skin needs to be soothed and moisturized. Hyaluronic acid is something you should always have in your bath. Don't forget sunscreen too.

Moisturizers and lotions.
Witch hazel and aftershaves would be more drying since they generally contain alcohol or astringent agents.
Start with one that lightly moisturizes and then work your way up as you need it so that you don't break your skin out.

To remedy dehydrated and oily skin caused by shaving, a combination of aftershave, moisturizing balm, and witch hazel may work best.

Aftershave can help to soothe and calm the skin after shaving. It may contain ingredients that help to reduce inflammation and irritation caused by shaving, such as aloe vera, chamomile, or tea tree oil. Aftershave can also help to disinfect the skin and prevent infection in any small cuts or nicks that may occur during shaving.

Moisturizing balm can help to replenish the skin's natural oils and prevent dehydration. Look for a balm that contains hydrating ingredients like glycerin, hyaluronic acid, or ceramides. A balm can also help to improve the skin's barrier function, which can be disrupted by shaving.
