Has anyone tried Biosil by Jarrow formulas? http://www.jarrow.com/products/biosil.htm
I bought some and have started taking it, but I just wondered if there was anyone else out there who has tried or is trying it? It is supposed to stimulate collagen production and is purportedly a good product for hair, skin and nails.
The label shows it to be stablized silicone and also states that this formula absorbs at a higher rate than other collagen products.
So far I haven't experienced anything significant, but I've only been on it for about a week. I haven't had any side effects or anything from it either, though.

Hi kim~
I've been using this. I got originally because I heard it could help to promote hair growth (mine has gotten very thin ). I figured it couldn't hurt and may even benefit my skin.(???)
I've used it for about three weeks. Honestly, hard to tell if this has helped . I've also been using Weleda's hair oil and some other hair products by Giovanni. And although my hair does seem to feel fuller, I assume it's the hair products more than the Biosil.
Definitely so reactions here, either. I think I may repurchase since it is so affordable just to give it a fair chance.
BTW, do you know what the benefits of silica are to the skin? Not sure myself. I know it is supposed to promote collagen, just not sure how it plays a role.

I have been using this for a while to strengthen my hair and nails ... to be honest I don't think it works. I much prefered taking Biotin and Silica supplements. Plus Biosil tastes DISGUSTING!!! |

Hi Lisa! I found this blurb about silica
"Silica is an element required for the proper functioning of the enzyme prolyhydroxylase. This enzyme functions in the formation of collagen in bone, cartilage, and connective tissue, making it beneficial for healthy hair, skin and nails. Silica is also a natural diuretic.*"
I guess it is just helpful in the formation of collagen as a benefit to the skin.
I also forgot to mention that I am taking the capsule form of the biosil instead of the liquid form. I will keep you posted if I notice any results.
Thanks!

Okay... call me crazy.. (and I might be!) but I think I am experiencing similar results with Biosil that the other ladies have been experiencing with hyaluronic acid supplements in regard to lip plumping.
I didn't buy it for that reason... so I wasn't even looking for my lips to do anything, but after about a week of taking the Biosil I started noticing that I have been waking up in the morning with fairly plump lips. I haven't even been using my Lip Fusion and they are still plump.
I took the H.A. supplements for about a month and even though my skin stayed clear, I didn't notice any change in regard to my lips.
Just thought I would bring this up for anyone who might not have had results from the H.A. supplements.
It may or may not work for anyone else, but I have definitely noticed a difference. I guess this makes sense because Biosil stimulates collagen production.
I am taking the capsule as opposed to the liquid Biosil, just to clarify. I don't know if there would be any difference between the two as far as speeding up results. The capsules are cheaper, however (about $20.00 U.S.)
So far so good! I'm going to keep my fingers crossed.

OK Kim....you are not crazy.....Just today I was lamenting how thin my lips looked. I haven't been faithful about taking the HA supps. However, I took the Biosil(about three weeks) daily until I ran out the other day. Hmmmmmmmm..........Since it isn't too expensive I think I will repurchase. It's worth another try!! |
