Im a 34 year old guy who up till about 6-8 months ago had no issues with my face/skin. Lately I have noticed some "sagging" if you will, on one side of my lips Ive got that "hook". I have posted before and someone recommended that I get the trial pack of the alphaderm CE. I did this, however its only 5 days, not long enough to draw a conclusion from.
I want to start something soon and plan on making the purchase with my next payday(this Friday  ). My choices have been narrowed down to the alphaderm CE or Skinceutical serum 15%, what exactly are the benefits of the two products and which woul be better for me? Can you really improve firmness with a topical or can only cosmetic procedures remedy this?  Sorry to be long winded. Thanks in advance for any replies. |

Hi Fly0684,
ADCE is something like botox without the injection. It's meant to smooth out lines, especially expression lines caused by repetitive movements of certain facial muscles. Vitamin C serum, on the other hand, is an anti-oxidant, which would mop up free radicals generated by the environment and UV rays. It also boosts collagen production.
If you're looking to improve firmness, then I think that vit C is a better choice because collagen is the support fibre of your skin. You might also want to try some glycolic acid products which thickens the dermis and also stimulates collagen production (other than its main action of exfoliating the surface of the skin). MD Formulations is a good glycolic acid brand with the right pH, although I can't comment further because I'm about to try this brand myself.

I have been using AlphaDerma for one year now. The firmness that I received from using ADCE and Mineral Prep has been dramatic.
I agree that 5 days doesn't tell you much.  What it should have told you is: did you like the texture, did it agree with your skin, how did your skin tone look. After trying a product for a week one thing I know is if I don't like it. I can remember liking AlphaDerma immediately.
Although I love AlphaDerma I do also believe in a Vit c Serum. Several months ago I added C to my routine and love the results.

You can buy SkinCeuticals right here at EDS. If you're in the US, you may also want to try skin-etc.com.
I would like to add that I haven't commented much on ADCE because I haven't tried it myself, but you may want to consider using both vit C and ADCE in view of what Winnie advised. |

| Hello Fly, I just wonder if you're on a budget if you say you're waiting til payday. The budget Vit C options also work well - Cellularskinrx.com, even Janson Beckett's is cheaper than the Skinceuticals. I don't know if you've read about them already and decided on Skinceuticals or not so I just mention. |

| What type of skin do you have? Dry, oily, combo? There are different textures of vit C serums and some feel better on certain skintypes which is why I'm asking. |

| Fly, you could also graduate from the sample kit to the travel pack or jus a travel size ACDE (available from the JB website) if you want to sample it for longer but are not fully convinced. That's what I did. Those big bottles look too daunting. |

What is the differenc between the budget Cs and skinceuticals? I am on a budget, I'm amazed at all the stuff people buy on this forum!!! I would be homeless! My skin is weird, normal most places but susceptible to drying in spots such as around my nose but my forehead often get oily.
Currently I use a little Retin-a at night and use Cetahphil moisutizer/sunblock everyday. Im not using any cleasner right now either, I was using Dermalogicas micro stuff, and it was awesome but EXPENSIVE! Thanks for the replies!! |

Up until JB came out with C&C I used CellularSkinRX. CS has a very attractive price of $38.00 for 1 OZ. It contains 12% Vit. C and spreads beautifully. If your skin is dry in some areas it would suit you fine. I would not recommend it for oily skin. I do believe right now CellularSkin is having 20% off until July 4th and free shipping.
If you are on a budget I think you would be happy with CS. |

| You might also want to look into Philosophy's "hope and a prayer" which is Vit. C powder which you can add to most creams (except copper) that you put on your face. It is $35.00 for .25 oz but you only use a teeny bit, measured by a very small implement they give you. I believe also that it is L-ascorbic acid, best water-soluble form, but you may want to double-check that. It is best used during the day as opposed to while you sleep, for some reason. |
