This last year I've been trying almost all wp mascaras on the market in my search for the holy grail. And this mascara is quite close to that goal
I had tried the Kanebo 38° a couple of years back, and was rather unimpressed with the results, as I found it didn't give enough oomph! to my lashes. However, my makeup ways and tastes have changed dramatically over the years, so I decided to give it one more try. And now, I can't live without it.
The formula is quite wet, and even after a month's use, I wipe the TINY! wand off on some paper before use. The results can be very natural or more dramatic, depending on the number of layers you apply. It's not a volumizing mascara, but it gives reasonable length.
And it really stays put, even through a running session, where I tend to sweat bucketloads. The removal is a bit tricky; you must splash your face with WARM water until it starts to dissolve, then it will come off. Ordinary AMU-remover doesn't work with this mascara.
The next step is to see whether it stays put also during swimming.
But definitely a thumbs up from me |

I wonder if this is a similar formulation to the Blinc Kiss Me mascara? The Kiss Me one creates "tubes" around your lashes and won't come off until you soak it in warm water for a little while. Then the tubes simply slide off your lashes. It's great stuff! The two sound similar except that the Kanebo one dissolves and this one slides off... |

I guess they're similar, then. This also slides off, I was maybe a bit inaccurate in my description.
I was a bit worried that it would come off during exercise, but no, it stayed put even then. |

For what it’s worth, when I’ve seen the Kanebo mascara written up in American beauty/fashion magazines, they always mention that the Kanebo formulation is identical to the Blinc Kiss Me mascara, but apparently the Blinc is easier to obtain in the U.S. as I haven’t heard of any stores or websites that carry it.... |

Hi all!
Bumping this up, because this is the most awesome mascara I've ever tried! Love it! The color is blacker than pitch black, although the brown color is too ruddy for my tastes. I swiped it haphazardly at the kanebo counter and went about my day, and when I came home, I was amazed to find that not a flake, not a smudge beset me. And lashes were even more curled than before. A very glam look, no clumps. The only strange thing was the washing-off process; it came off in tiny little clumps instead of smudging off. But that was nice, because there was absolutely no hint of black afterwards!

I have a pic and will post it tomorrow if anyone is interested. |

I've never tried Blinc either. Is it more of a natural look? |

I liked the easy brush of this mascara and bought it - but it dried my eye lashes and they started to break after few days of use. It's a pity because it's the best brush ever (actually, it's a tiny comb only). |

lin23, oh no! and to think i had found my hg mascara. does anyone think that wearing a lash conditioner underneath this mascara would help???
Here is a pic of me wearing the mascara--remember, i applied it over old mascara i was wearing, so considering:
Has anyone else had adverse experiences with this kind of mascara? thanks!

Have you used Blinc? If so, did you find it to be the same? I've used Blinc, but didn't love it. However I was not starting with those loooong lashes of yours, so that might be part of it. (I'm waiting for RL to kick in) |

Hi yogi,
I never tried blinc. I wasn't even aware that kanebo was a fiber mascara, just that it contained silk, which lead me to believe that it would be great for my lashes!
i realize the pic i posted makes them look kind of clumped together and not the greatest, but i was amazed at how nice they looked considering the fact that i was already wearing mascara from before.
are we all confirmed that blinc and kanebo are the same???

I don't know. I know Blinc and Kevin Aucoin are the same. The tube type of mascara. |

Hi avalange,
thanks for the picture! your lashes look great.
i have the blinc and it seems like the kanebo does the same for your lashes as the blinc does for mine. i didn't find the blinc very thickening but I was more after the lengthering effects than making my lashes thicker.
is the take off process easy? i found blinc too hard to remove for everyday wear, everytime i wash it off, it feels like i am losing all my lashes. if only kanebo or kiss me blinc could design a tube mascara that comes off with cleansing oil, then that would be the perfect mascara!

Hey all,
Are we all sure we are talking about the same mascara? Kanebo makes two different kinds:
I tried this one:
Kanebo
38C Silk Performance Mascara
$21.00
Thermo-sensitive mascara that only comes off when in contact with warm water. It provides curl, volume, length, and treatment benefits, and its long-lasting, smudge-proof formula makes it a celebrity and makeup artist favorite.
and then there is this one, which sounds identical to the blinc! kiss me:
Kanebo
Styling Mascara
$25.00
Styling Mascara (Curl) is formulated with Microfibres and Curl Retention Resin to keep the lashes curled throughout the day. Styling Mascara (Volume) intensifies and increases the volume and length of lashes in one application. Available in two colors.
I'm hoping that the silk mascara isn;t the one that has been ruining everybody's lashes, because I adored it!! and by the way, the removal process was easy but weird--it literally crumbled off my eyelashes when i splashed them with warm water. None of these crumbly bits smudged on my skin though--absolutely did not leave a trace of black anywhere!

I've heard of this mascara for ages and have been trying to hunt it down here in Thailand, but I still haven't been able to find it anywhere. I'd like to try both Blinc and Kanebo to see if they're any different.
avalange,
How do you manage to apply mascara without it clumping together? Mine always does no matter what mascara I use Oh, I've been using Talika Lipocil under my mascara and it really helps preventing mascara drying out my lashes.

I don't think the 2 mascaras are the same. Blinc comes off in tubes that slide off your lashes, I believe you said your is more of a crumble. |
