what is your favourite dermalogica cleanser?
I used to use the ultracalming cleanser, that was very gentle however i wanted a bit of a change and just bought the Special Cleansing Gel and after one use made my skin feel so smooth. My skin is a bit dry so i hope this cleanser wont dry my face up. Has anybody experience dryness with this cleanser? |

The Special Cleansing Gel dried my skin out. I have oily/combination skin but after using this for a couple of weeks I had to stop. I experienced dryness after the first time I'd used it but decided to stick with it and hoped that the dryness would disappear. It didn't . However, this doesn't mean that you will experience the same problem. My skin is particularly sensitive to gel cleansers and I've yet to find one that doesn't dry my skin. It's strange really as gel cleansers are supposed to be good for oily skins. Not really sure why my skin dislikes them so much.
I switched to the Ultracalming Cleanser and that suited my skin a lot better although it does leave the skin on my nose a little dry sometimes. |

I really like the Special Cleansing Gel for my normal-dry skin....no drying out at all I use it first followed by the Microfoliant
I have tried the Ultracalming and found it anything but calming....made my skin tight and itchy. Also had more trouble rinsing it off completely which is why I prefer gels for that sqeaky clean feeling |

i used this for about a year and went through moisturiser like there was no tomorrow! i finally realised that it was the cleanser that was drying my skin out, and when i combined it with the microfoliant i was so dry i thought my skin would crack.
i moved on to the essential cleansing solution which was better as it is more for dry skin, but i eventually abandoned dermalogica all together (although i still really love some of the products) because my skin was just so dry i was continually getting spots.
i was sad to have to leave dermalogica but now i'm using dr hauschka and i can't believe the difference - now i realise just how dry my skin was using dermalogica!

I had dryness problems when using the Special Cleansing Gel at first, but I was also using harsh anti-acne products as well. I then tried the Ultra Calming Cleanser and liked it fairly well. Then I tried the Essential Cleansing Solution to melt off my makeup at night, followed by the Special Cleansing Gel and the Face Brush and my face is so smooth and not dry at all. I use everything Dermalogica and this is the winning combination. Not all things work for everyone, but I hope this helps you. |

strange I have used special clearing gel for years and love it and it isn't drying. Occaisionally in the summer I swop in Dermal Clay Cleanser if my skin is oily. |

I have both the ultra calming cleanser and the special cleansing gel. I alternate these products as sometimes I feel I want a bit more of a cleanse so I use the Special Cleansing Gel (on those oiler days). And otherwise I stick to the Ultra Calming Cleanser which I love and is super gentle which I need.
I think the Special Cleansing Gel would be too much on it's own as an everyday cleanser unless you have an oiler complexion.
If you are wanting to change things a bit in your routine have you thought of adding the Daily Microfoliant? I love this product and I could use it everyday with drying my skin out. |

I have the microfiliant as well which i use about 3 times a week. I find that is too drying on my face if i use it everyday. When i use the special cleansing gel followed by the Daily Microfiliant its SUPER drying on my skin!! |

I agree it would be too drying to use the special gel cleanser and the daily microfoliant on the same day. I never use these two products on the same days as each other.
Sounds like the Special Cleansing Gel may not be for you though Especially if you are finding it that drying. |
