I recently ordered centella asiatica fromwww.skinactives.com. (My plastic surgeon recommended it for helping my abdominoplasty scar. I used it on my face with some aloe vera too, and it is great!)
Anyway, I noticed that the personal formulator does not sell L-ascorbic acid(just ascorbic....is there a difference?)Skinactives does. They also sell DMAE pretty cheap(they do get you with shipping tho) I have taken a longwinded route to simply ask what is your opinion between these two sites? Everyone talks about the personal formulator but not skinactives? Just wonder why, before I slap down my credit card(well, my husband's credit card )
Thanks! |

Hi Ajax,
I think you have that backwards ... personal formulator sells "l-ascorbic acid"... skinactives just sells "ascorbic acid".
There's been all kinds of discussions on this board about the difference.
Basically "ascorbic acid" can be pure l-ascorbic acid ... or it can be pure d-ascorbic acid ... or it can be a 50/50 of the two.
What you'd have to do is email skinactives and ask whether or not their ascorbic acid is "l-ascorbic acid" or not.
L-ascorbic acid is the active part of ascorbic acid ... and the only one that has skin benefits.

thanks for the replies....I just didn't see the "L" in front of it so I got worried....can't believe I mixed up the sites!!
I think I will e-mail skinactives, just out of curiosity. Good idea~ |

D-ascorbic acid is very hard to obtain so it is probably the L-ascorbic acid they are selling. I know personalformulator sells the L-form. |
