Kassy,
Thank you so much for sharing your DIY recipes with us. I had been making and using your vitamin C + recipe and quit because I decided it wasn't doing anything for my skin. Just recently, I was comparing some pictures of my skin now and back when I was using it and decided I need to start again. My tone of my skin was just so much better when I was using it. I'm the kind of person who needs a recipe for cooking, etc. so having you post your's is a tremendous help to me. If you come with one that includes grapeseed oil, I'd be very interested. |

They're all fairly similar + easy Ella, just follow along step by step..
To get .5% of Ferulic Acid, use 1/4 tsp.. The vodka liquifies it immediately on contact.. Just follow the steps, and you should be fine..
Give a holler if you have a problem. |

Thanks, Rileygirl - that looks very promising and I'll be interested in hearing more about this line.
Kassy, I just had a "duh" moment when I searched for palm oil and saw that you highly recommend it as a source of tocotrienols. Do you think palm oil could be used in the vitamin C serum? By the way, I did add grapeseed oil to my serum and really like how it's working on my skin. |
I did indeed research vitamin E to death.. And yes the "Virgin Palm Oil" comes out way on top..(It also has a huge amount of "ALL" the carotenes {vit A}, which is a huge plus).
There is only one reason that I don't suggest it in the recipe's I post, and that reason is that it will have you starting out with an *orangy* serum.. Virgin Palm oil is very red..(quite like the color of the Skinactives Anti-oxidant Booster!)
Here's my honest thought though in regard to any of the recipe's I've shared here.. Personally I have never had even one turn any shade of yellow for the entire time it might sit in my fridge.. I've made 3 oz bottles that I use on my body which lasts several months, and still no discoloration noted.. My point is that if anybody makes any of the recipes exactly as posted, they should enjoy the same experience, and be confident that the serums haven't reached the 2nd phase of oxidation..
With all that said, anybody is free to replace the vitamin E in any recipe, with Virgin Palm Oil, and still be confident that it's stable + effective, even though it will begin with a darker color.. (The color it starts out, should remain the same till it's gone.)
Another option which gives you the best of both worlds (and mostly what I do), is to keep making your C serums with the regular vitmin E, and after you apply it and let it absorb a couple of minutes, apply a few drops of palm oil as a moisturizing step..
Did I answer your question, or confuse you further.. |
