At the end of the day, it's the attitude + personality of each individual that makes them not only look, but also feel younger...IMHO!
Happy, friendly, sincere & fun loving people, just can't hide their zest and love of life, and that comes across loud and clear on their faces.
On the other hand, those who live a life full of jealousy, anger + pettiness, transfer those attributes to their faces as well..
Be happy, your face with thank you... |

I've thought about this question: First of all - The Young look Young. Period. But how do the older (over 40, 50, 60) look young... It comes from confidence, outward energy, good posture, Fresh looking face - this doesn't mean no wrinkles necessarily, an easy smile, a true desire to meet people, live in the moment, learn things, do things. Stay on top of appropriate fashion for your age and body, subtle makeup, a good haircut or let it grow baby!, well-manicured hands help.
Contrast with dour personality, low energy, bad attitude, hair, glasses not youthful, The typical old lady haircut. (Bald men can be very sexy - but no combover allowed). And no desire to dress in way that shows you care.
Really, it's so much about attitude and sparkle and putting some effort in. People are drawn to those who seem fun, interesting and have something to offer. If you're not that, who cares how firm your skin is. |

Yes, true. I took it as meaning being Youthful. Only the young can really look young.
I read, hear etc frequently of people thinking they look 10 years younger than they are and really what they are is attractive for the age they are. Just gotta up the odds! |
Exactly! |

I think the topic on this type of forum - with your word "young" in a forum topic is a "Catch 22" situation, because, a lot of us using EDS forums are not "young" but we want to be youthful looking/outlook and I think it is wonderful that all ages and types of people share their experiences with products to make us feel youthful and that is the key to all these products/gizmos - how do you feel about yourself. Because, if you feel good, you look good and walk with confidence and it puts a sparkle in your eyes.
I wouldn't want to be young again - have done that, got the high heels to prove it - but I think the key to EDS and our discussions is that they are positive about ageing and fun, and youth is for the young and they don't need these types of forms and feeling youthful is for the rest of us.

This is fun! Lots of great happy responses here!
It is true that many (actually most) often think they look 10 yrs. younger than their age, when in fact they merely look their own age. We somehow seem to compare ourselves to our parents & grandparents when they were our age. Different generations, different times.
But, there are some who have incorporated a healthy, wholesome lifestyle who have outgoing, infectious personalities who truly look much younger than their years & peers. Like the Sally Field's of the world. To me, at 60 she still can pull off playing Gidget, no problem.
You just can't wake up one morning when the face starts to noticeably sag & the wrinkles start to form, then expect to do a miraculous reversal on Father Time. Same with our bodies. If that is the case, you are in for a rude awakening since aging is a slow cumulative process and the reversal will be even slower. You can't look into the mirror and expect results in a week or 2 or even months, then complain about it. Those who have employed "damage control" throughout their lives with a healthy diet, attitude & lifestyle will fare the best.
Also, Positive People, look far younger to me than those who always find fault & the need to criticize. Attitude does play a huge role in how you will be perceived by others.
Cheers to our Youthful Faces, Bodies & Minds! |
