***10) How often do you do deep rolls?
I followed Bethany's protocol with the inital 3 deep rolls (well, most probably not as deep as I needed to go to stimulate the *wound* repairing cascade)***

Hi Stork!
I must apologize because I forgot that I had actually completed 6 rolls, as suggested by Bethany's protocol, then took the 90 day break, followed by one roll for the next three months. (Which is where I mixed up my tally:D) Anywho, I now do one roll a month with a 1.0mm. Here are some posts I've quoted of Bethany's. In preparation, she does suggest both oral and topical A and C for, AT LEAST, 2 weeks before rolling, but ideally, 4-6 weeks, and continuiing throughout. I did 6 weeks and continue to take both oral and topical forms of both a and c.

You should ideally be on a Retin A/Vit C routine for a minimum of 2 weeks BEFORE deramolling....the longer the better (Bethany added, in a later post, that 4-6 weeks would be optimal). This is because you need high levels of both within your cells so that skin can effectively remodel.
I am not a fan of putting ascorbic-acid based Vit C on open wounds, so I use an oil-based Vit C and Vit A instead.
However, some people do the following:
- Apply Retin A 30 mins after washing your face (after you are done rolling) and then apply the Vit C the next morning.
- Apply Vit C (it will sting)after washing your face (after you are done rolling), and apply Retin A 30 mins later. |

Rolling History:
I did a series of 6 rolls (1 per week) starting in mid-May with a 1.0mm Dr. Roller and 1.0mm 3Line Dr. Roller and then took a 90 day break. I now only roll once every 4-6 weeks, and will not be taking future breaks.
Topicals:
The only topicals I use when rolling are RA (face and arms only), and 302 A Boost and Lightening Drops on all areas for the next 3 days in order to replicate Dr. Fernandes' professional protocol (though he actually uses the Environ EssentiA Oil). I have used CPs, but don't think they are essential at all.
I was also using 302 topicals on a daily basis, along with RA 1x a week....including when I was on my 90 day rolling break.
Dermarolling Results:
After a total of 4 months, I saw:
- 90% of my crowsfeet eliminated
- 75% of my glabellas (11's) eliminated
- 30% of my forehead lines eliminated and the rest softened
- 97% of my milia eliminated
- 80% of a neck/collarbone line eliminated
- 80% of the pigmentation eliminated from my hands
I had a VISIA Complexion Analysis done on 9/18 that showed the following, and I will be using this as a baseline for future improvement.
- Fine lines and wrinkles - 99%
- Hyperpigmentation (age/dark spots) - 73%
- Enlarged pores - 97%
- Texture (skin smoothness) - 85%
- Sun damage (UV spots) - 105 counted in the designated area
I have been very fortunate to see results of this magnitude so quickly, especially since I roll way less than most people. And I am definitely expecting/hoping to see more improvement over the next 12 months.
However, though many people do not see these results unless they roll more frequently, and for a longer time period. However, 6 to 7 months seems to be the point where most people start seeing results. |
Bethany also provided a nice, comprehensive reference for many articles regarding Rolling.

I'm so happy that someone actually READ some of the stuff that I posted!
I have changed my outlook a bit on rolling after reading more about inflammation, and the protocols of doctors doing medical rolls. I would recommend rolling MORE intensely (1.0mm and LOTS of holes) and LESS frequently than the original protocol that I used.
I would personally not roll more than once every 3-4 months at this point, in order to let any micro-inflammation fully dissipate between rolls. I actually haven't rolled since 11/08, but will be doing one this summer.
But that is just my personal perspective...I hope everyone has results, regardless of the protocol used. |
