being doing quite a bit of research on turmeric
and adding a dash of black pepper to it, when taking internally, works much better. the body has a more difficult time at absorbing turmeric, but the black pepper helps |

This topic brings memories.
I did a turmeric face mask once. Only no one told me I had to wash it off really well. I simply rinsed it off. It didn't help that I left home before light and used public transportation. By the time I stopped at 7-11 to get some coffee, the sun was out. The guy there who knew me as I was a regular asked what I had on my face. Surprised that it had worked so well for him to notice a change, I replied, "Nothing!" --which was true as I hadn't applied anything after rinsing off the turmeric. He said I looked bright. Oooh I beamed so widely you coulda seen my molars. Who knew one treatment could make me glow so!
As I walked to the bus stop the newspaper guy whom I always chatted with every morning told me I was glowing. I grinned even wider! It was winter time so I had on a white woolly cap and matching scarf. When I got to work, I went to the bathroom to admire myself and see what the remarkable turmeric difference that had everyone's attention was...Coz I hadn't thought it was that outstanding before I left home, but clearly I had missed something.
OMG, the horror! I looked like an Oompa Loompa character. I was glowing alright! Glowing like a blinking yellow/orange light bulb. And some of the yellowish dye was on the edge of my cap as well. I had walked through town looking like a high carotene vegetable. So much for my "Nothing" response, when clearly the stained part of my cap--if they could see--it wasn't yellow by magic; and of course w/o my telling the whole story, they couldn't know that I really had washed it off so I really believed I had nothing on my face LOL. Why the ground didn't just swallow me then, I dunno!
Good thing I got to work earlier than everyone so I was able to wash it off before those who really know me got to see me like that. |
