Not just for those of us with excema and sensitive skin really, but these are things I have tried that help my stress related excema and dry sensitive skin that work well w/o irritating.

Would love to hear from others who are trying to get clear body skin!

I have had this excema for a couple years, lately through diet excercise and supplements it has cleared by about 60%....the battle continues but here's what I've been trying.

Strangely, I find that when I find something that really works, it will stop working at some point???? Have no idea why, but switching back and forth with the lotions and different "baths" helps.

Things to add to the bath that wont' leave the tub greasy...I add my "grease" after the bath:)

Oatmeal- the old fashioned sort- I use about a cup and a half tied up in a piece of pantyhose:) Just toss in the bath and squeeze it. This helps esp. if I feel itchy. Aveeno makes a collidial oatmeal powder but I prefer the old fashioned oats.

Milk- reg or dried. If it's on sale, say- buy one get one free- I'll use a half gallon of reg milk (or more) in my bath.

Honey- I Always add about a quarter cup honey in all my baths.

Apple Cider Vinegar- a quart maybe.

I add all the above in combos together except for the cider and milk LOL...yikes! bubble bubble!

After Bath Moisture-

I let myself drip dry until there is just a bit of moisture still on my skin, then massage in....

(for times when I REALLY need some moisture...)
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Karite(sp?) shea butter w/patchouli
Cocoa butter stick
I have a candle warmer I use for this- I put a glass tumbler on the warmer and cut off about a three quarter inch chunk of a cocoa butter stick, and let it melt, then add a large tablespoon of the karite shea butter and let it melt, then add olive oil until it looks like the right amount to cover my entire body:)
Not crazy about the patchouli smell, so I like to use this before bed.

Massage this in and go about naked as long as possible brushing teeth doing makeup etc. I usually end up putting on an oversized cotton shirt until I have to finally get dressed. It never seems to totally soak in... but it does work to help my skin.

Palmers Cocoa Butter! Love this stuff!

Aquaphor- Eucerin healing ointment- this is another for times when I really need to extra help.

Vaseline in emergency:)

My newest additions below...I was afraid the fragrances in these might irritate my skin but glad to report they did not...

Burts baby bee apricot oil

Burts baby bee buttermilk lotion

both of these smell soooo good to me, and they moisturize really well. I use both after the bath, first the oil and then the lotion.

I really miss using perfumed lotions... although I am finding I CAN use them now in moderation. For the past week I have been using Perlier White Almond which I love love and it has'nt been irritating at all.

So there ya go...anyone else have any good treatments?

Wow thanks for the tips, Allie Grace (like your name).

I think I might try one or two of your ideas (esp honey and oatmeal). My kids and I have started a liking for L'Occitane Shea Butter Milk Shower Cream - see review, http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=11702 but it can be pricy.

Thanks again! Smile

Wow what a great thread..thanks Allie Grace!!

I am so limited in what I can use in my bath. I have very allergic prone skin, um well, "down there" Embarassed

I can use J & J baby wash(which bubbles very nicely) occasionally or a product called Bath Therapy which is rich in mineral salts. For the most part I use powdered milk and add a carrier oil blend to the water. Anything else and I will end up at the ob/gyn's office for a Rx. I may try the honey in the tub, never thought of that! Thanks again!

Not sure how to edit my post, but about the apple cider vinegar- I said a quart and I meant half of that- 2 cups.

Lifeplyr01 - hello:) I think I've seen that Bath Therapy at Walgreens....is it a product you would find at the drugstore?

btw, I read somewhere in of my google searches on skin care that the apple cider is good for "down there". I cannot recall where I found that info, but it seemed like it refered to using it in the bath. Can't recall the amount of cider added to the bath either...it may be worth googling though.
