Skinmedica has an AHA/BHA cream.
Active serum is with AHA/BHA.
I can't say anything positive about them though : my skin cannot cope with SA (which is BHA). |

MD Formulations Clearing Complex contains BHA/AHA. I am currently using this, but not sure whether it agrees with me. HTH |

If you are looking for a drugstore alternative Avene cleanance k has both AHA/BHA. (Cdn SDM, etc)
My skin is quite sensitive (I can't exfoliate at all now) and I usually can't can't use AHA at ALL but I can use this once in a while.
For a good drugstore AHA product Alpha Hydroxy oil free gel works well. some ladies on MUA were having great success with this as far as even help to fade acne marks.
Both products have reviews have reviews in p'ville on MUA. I have used both.
I should add that I believe for clogged pores (especially oily skin) that BHA is more effective. I personally tolerate BHA much more easily than AHA. |

IS Clinical Active Serum!! I have been using it for 2 weeks, have yet to do a review on it, but love it!!! I was nervous about the combo of AHA/BHA on my skin but so far have been tolerating it very well. I have fairly resilient skin but for some odd reason am allergic to Vit.C serums. I can use this successfully and have been having great results in terms of overall smoothness/even skin tone. Less clogged pores/blackheads and breakouts. Very happy with this active!! |

I am currently using the PSF pumkin enzyme peel once a week, is that enough to fight the clogged pores or should I add another product?
dollbird - i'm about as old as you and am wondering if the active is too harsh for young skin? thanks! |

Peter Thomas Roth makes a really great treatment serum which has both (I think). My favorite is Biologique Recherche's Lotion P50 -it has lactic and usnic acids. I don't really respond as well to BHA. |

I use PSF pumpkin mask once a week as well, and while it's a great pick-me-up for tired looking skin, I find it insufficient to keep my skin looking at its best on a daily basis. I just started using the Active Serum two weeks ago and I wonder why I never started earlier. It is certainly not too harsh for young skin, as it quite a low percentage of glycolic (8%), salicylic (2%), lactic (2%). You can always move up percentages as you grow older. I think it is never too early to start using actives as AHA's actually build skin thickness by increasing collagen. Plus, other exfoliation benefits like smoother skin, unclogged pores, less blackheads and breakouts. HTH! |

It is good to hear that Active Serum has BHA. I was going to consider Cellular Skin Rx Age-Limit...product. |

dollbird, can you tell me a bit more about the IS Clinical. How do you use it? What do you layer on top or below? Do you think it'll help fade acne scars? |

IS Clinical is a fantastic line which carries a whole range of products from eye cream to Vit C serum. I use the Active Serum. From ISC's website, here's a description of it:
ANTI-AGING
SMOOTHING
LIGHTENING
ANTI-ACNEIC
ACTIVE SERUM, our exceptional multipurpose formula, is designed to generate rapid and dramatic improvements in overall skin quality. ACTIVE SERUM diminishes fine lines and wrinkles, evens pigmentation, smoothes, and controls acne. ACTIVE SERUM is widely endorsed by leading physicians and experts, who describe ACTIVE SERUM as “remarkable,” “amazing,” “miraculous,” and “one of the most important discoveries in the field of skincare.” ACTIVE SERUM begins working immediately upon application, as demonstrated by an “active” tingling sensation. This phenomenal formula absorbs deep within the dermal layers where maximum benefits will be achieved. Extremely sophisticated formulation technology enables ACTIVE SERUM to precisely affect the skin cells themselves, truly providing results on a cellular level.
Key ingredients: Sugar Cane Extract (a source of Glycolic Acid), Bilberry Extract (a source of Lactic Acid), Willow Bark Extract (a source of Salicylic Acid), Arbutin, Mushroom Extract (a source of Kojic Acid), Menthol.
-------------------------------------------
I apply after cleansing, and just slap a basic moisturizer on top since it can be a bit drying, and let it go to work. I love the tingle of the menthol. And you bet it will help fade acne scars, because of the exfoliation from the AHA/BHA and the lightening effect from arbutin and kojic acid. You can find more reviews here:

Thanks dollbird. I read somewhere (probably this thread) that you can't use Vit C. I could use Vit C happily for months but now suddenly I can't. I've tried to slowly re-introduce it but my face still gets red and irritated. So, I was thinking of something else under my moisturizer. Do you also use Hydracool?
I am somewhat nervous about the Menthol. I used Dr. Denese's pads and hated the tingling effect. The menthol made my eyes water...it was unpleasant. |

I think a BHA/AHA product is a great alternative to Vit. C because it also helps with anti-aging, brightening/evening skin tone, rebuilding collagen, and lightening scars. It also totally helps with acne for me. I usually get cysts on my chin at that time of the month and this thing has stopped the underground sucker from forming into a cyst. I've seen a significant reduction in breakouts since using this, and am truly glad i found a stellar multipurpose product. Since you should only use so little, the tingle is mild and will go away quickly. You can get samples from EDS. |
