I'm trying to decide on a serum to buy which I will use with my LightStim. I already have a homemade C serum, but am looking for an alternative to a C serum...maybe something with peptides?? (Exception would be anything with cooper peptides! which I won't touch with a 10 foot pole!) Would love to hear which are favorites! |

Well, other than the C Serum I put on every morning, at night I use Skinceuticals Intense Line Defense Serum (12% AHA). I have been using this product for a few years now. I alternate every other night with Avene Retrinal 0.1. |

Hi, mountaingirl.
If I were to replace my vitamin C serum, I would choose one of these:
Canyon Ranch Age Transforming Concentrate serum (1 oz, $150, Skinstore.com), which contains 5 % pro-NAD (highly penetrable form of niacinamide), tripeptides and multivitamin liposomes.
http://www.skinstore.com/p-8309-canyon-ranch-age-transforming-concentrate-serum.aspx
Here is a recent thread about pro-NAD and the Canyon Ranch products, that are recommended by Prof in Dermatology, Dr Leslie Baumann
http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=32567
Another serum that might be worth trying, is
Revaleskin Intense Recovery Treatment (1 oz, price not disclosed, Skinstore.com). It is a brand new serum that contains 1.5 % coffee berry (as opposed to 1 % in the Revaleskin day and night creams), along with peptides and licorice extract.
http://www.skinstore.com/p-8743-revaleskin-intense-recovery-treatment.aspx
The effectiveness of the Revaleskin creams was demonstrated in a study a couple of years ago. This serum is supposedly even more potent.
I hope you have a lot of money. These serums are not cheap. |

Hi mountaingirl, I posted this on another thread:
I am using lacto-ceramide in an uber active serum I make with matrixyl, tripeptide, argirilene, and skin tight.
I am very interested in finding a base product that penetrates the skin barrier and is a good carrier so if you read of anything like that please post!
Other than liposome encapsulation I've read in Zo formulations that by using retinol and vitamin c prior to peptides the retinol and vit c disrupt the stratum corneum and allow peptides to penetrate better...
There is a lot to learn pm me if you would like formula! |

What's your skin like, Jom? I am trying to figure out why do you love it although I have to say, just reading it on paper, I like the ingredient listing a lot. |

I have normal skin. I like this serum for its ingredients, it has niacinmide and spin trap which are ingredients I was looking to add to my skin and I like that it has Alpha Lipoic Acid which got raves in a recent Allure article, referenced here http://kalologie.com/press/allure-skin-news/
I also like the feel and consistency of the product. It goes on nicely and absorbs well and adds a little extra hydration but does not make my face oily or shiny. Other products layer over it really well too. And, it smells good but does not leave a scent behind. I really like the Kalologie products, I wish EDS would stock them if they can. Another big plus for me is that each product is: medical grade, dermatologist tested, chirally correct, paraben free, sulfate free, artificial color free, artificial fragrance free and cruelty free. I've tried other chirally correct lines and was not that impressed but these products are great. |

PSF has an ALA serum that I like for an antioxidant serum. I have been using Matrixyl 3000 serum from Isomers for peptides and I like the texture it imparts. I use this in the a.m. and retin A at night. |

HA ought to be safe. You might not want something too active to react with the LightStim |

I actually don't use C serum. I tried a few but I always felt that my face looked darker and not bright for some reasons after using C. Does anyone else have this problem? |

If you are looking for some serum with peptides, I think Isomers is a good choice. They carry so many product line with different peptides, such as Dipeptide diaminobutyroyl benzylamide, Acetyl hexapeptide-3,Palmitoyl Oligopeptide, copper peptide. From the reseach, I known the peptides is one of the most safety ingredient to anti-age. |

I prefer HA serum by PSF. It's pureness and calm skin very well. |

I have always believed that Valmont L Elixir Des Glaciers Precious Serum is the absolute best serum I have ever used. Unfortunately I have to contend with a vastly fluctuating exchange rate which means this product can get very expensive, otherwise, it would be the only product I would ever use. |

Bushy, do you have the ingredients list to hand? On the website here is a partial list of ingredients, but they seem pretty vague. Triple DNA and RNA are listed, but without any indication of what species the DNA and RNA are taken from. Given the price, about 450 dollars, it's a shame that the full ingredient list isn't posted so people can judge how it compares with other products. |

Sorry for butting in, but what does DNA/RNA do? Is it an actual ingredient? Sounds awfully hokey to me... |

The full ingredients are listed on the box and I no longer have that so can't help you with all the ingredients. I do know that there were quite a lot of ingredients, many of which are not commonly found in other products so it would be very difficult to do a comparison. |

Thanks for replying, bushy. I do wish that companies would list ingredients online, though. Ah well, I can't afford it anyway, I suppose, so probably just as well. |

Valmont L Elixir Des Glaciers Precious Serum is WAY overpriced. For 650CAD I would expect it to deliver much better results than it does which is mainly what any other serum in the $100-200 range can do. |

Osmosis Correct is a super effective retinaldehyde (vitamin a) serum for anti-aging. I like to make my own peptide serum, I order peptides from theherbarie.com and add to any hyaluronic acid serum (I use Epicuren Discovery Moisture Surge). |
