Since I've started with retin A, my skin has definitely become more sensitive, nothing shocking there, and with keeping it every other day for the moment I'm doing well with the side effects too. I also plan to add in Vit C, but I do like to go at any changes super slowly!
I'm having sunscreen issues though. Can't seem to find one that meets all my requirements. so I thought I'd see what you recommend. I have a list.....
Suitable for Retin A users
Suitable for sensitive skin (even before the retin A)
Around factor 30
No or very very little white cast
Physical
I thought I was doing well with La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL SPF50+ Fluid Extreme, but the white cast is putting me off, and really that's a problem with quite a few I've tried. I'm very pale anyway, so I'm ending up looking like one of the undead

Riley--do you find that product is better than the Devita Body Block? I thought you mentioned some concerns about protection with the latter. |

I can wholeheartedly recommend Marie Veronique Organics sunscreen. It comes in tinted versions or untinted versions( I use the light version), it is Spf 30 and uses 24% zinc oxide which is one of the highest percentages I have found. It looks really nice on the skin and for me it works as a moisturiser, sunscreen and foundation in one as it provides good coverage. |

I have never used the Devita Body Block, Kristy! Sorry, can't help on that one. I used the Old Devita sunscreen in a jar, and that one I freckled through with. |

I have been reasonably happy with Kabana Green Screen.

I'm so glad I read this thread. I can't stand the white cast that most sunscreens leave. I am also fair and end up looking like I should be lying in a box
iherb carries it in Canada, but they are out of stock. The shipping is only $4 to Canada - good, but still wish I could find it sold in Canada.

Time2Bmd, check Vitacost. They were having a sale on it, but I don't know if they do and/or how much shipping to Canada is. |

I like the Marie Veronique as well.

It's pricey, but doubles as foundation.
With the rave reviews on the Devita, I'm going to order that one too and give it a try. |

Thanks Rileygirl - they have it. The price is cheaper than iherb and the shipping is still under $5 !! |

You're welcome. I always check both iherb and vitacost, as they usually have the best price, but on some things vitacost is cheaper, and others iherb is cheaper! It pays to comparison shop! |

I had never heard of Vitacost. Recommendations is another reason I love forums like this. I always feel more comfortable ordering from an online company that has been used before.
I've gotten burned before. I won't order from any company who only delivers by UPS. I got my package on time and the condition was fine, but I was surprised with an outrageous bill. They added on all kinds of additional fees for 'taking it through' customs. Burned me once - never again. |

Too cute ... you've even got it your signature line ... I take it is a fav of your's?? !!
I noticed you're from Toronto ... Have you found it in Canada? I ordered it from Vitacost (thank you Riley!!), but if it is available in Canada, I'll keep it in mind for next time. |

The one in the jar--is that that Devita 50 in the brown jar with black lid? |

Time2Bme,
Devita is on sale now for $15 at Vitacost. Unfortunately, I don't think we will be able to find a better price in Canada
its_kristy, I was not able to test the Devita sunscreen yet. It's a freezing fall in Toronto... But, you are right, we have to test it in the real sun before claiming our love for it all around the world |

No. I used the old Devita a long time ago (sorry I cannot remember how long ago, as I have used so many sunscreens!). It was a clear jar with a white lid.
I spend time in the sun daily here and I haven't had any pigmentation returning as of yet. However, it is fall and I am not dealing with the strong summer sun. I'll let everyone know next summer how this protects at that time. At least for the fall/winter season, this is working well for me. |

Caris,
I have the same issues as you (retin-A user) and right now I am using Devita Body Block Spf 30+. With the colder weather, I am finding that this particular sunscreen is moisturizing, doesn't have a white cast. It also has lots of antioxidants in it--pretty impressive actually. I do have the Devita Facial Solar Moisturizer but I have the older type in the jar (with no clear SPF on the label). I really like this facial product as well--the new product looks just as good but has a SPF 30+.
However, if you compare the ingredients of the Devita Body Block vs. Solar Moisturizer you will be far more impressed with the Body Block. |
