Hi there,
I need some advise as my head hurts from reading the extensive Copper peptide threads and other threads about actives. I've come to understand a few things but am more confused now, and hope some of you can clarify so as I can start to introduce some CPs and DMAE serum into my routine.I'm trying to sticks to actives here and hope I can create some sort of plan...with all the wonderful help here that is usually given.
So far I'm using Priori perfection gel (3.8PH with a peptide and AHA/BHA combo). I wait about 15 min and add Replenish (osmosis)which is an antioxidant serum, followed by SS which is Zinc Oxide based. Not sure if I should do antiox first and then the gel but antiox is suppose to be in a liposomal delivery form so maybe it helps push the gel further into my skin????Not sure.
Then PM Im using LAA powder with aloe vera (watery serum, )then Retin-A before I go to bed. Sometimes I add a little moisturiser if I feel a bit dry. I was using Retin-A every second night and recently started every night ( I want to do it for a year then go back to every 2nd night)
Here is my problem with my new purchases...what can I say Im a skincare whore
I bought the Skin Bio Skin signals cream, Two timing tightener and squalane oil. How do I incorporate them into my routine.??????
Oh dear what have I done. Im thinking alternating products at night but that would mean CPs would be used 3 or 4 x per week and I read 4x per week is need to see results....or is 3 okay??
Please any advice would be greately appreciated...other than reinforcing my * spam alert * problem with skincare |

I'm still a newbie here and to a regular skin care routine. Before coming here, I actually thought skin care products bought at Target would take care of making my wrinkles and hyperpigmentation disappear. I now know that I was only fooling myself.
It can, indeed, be very confusing when you first come here and start reading all these threads. I don't know about you, but I started thinking, "Why did I not pay attention more in chemistry class?"
I know there will be many experienced people coming here to reply, but it would help them more to know exactly what you are aiming to accomplish with your skin care routine (soften wrinkles, reduce age spots, firm skin, etc...), your age and skin type.
Good luck to you! |

Thankyou for replying.I feel maybe my questions are stupid since I didnt get many replies. I so agree I wish I had taken chemistry rather than art
I suppose my question relates moreso to what order I should be using the actives, moreso than if I should use them.Sorry about my unclear ramblings. I read a fab thread about PH and it got me worried. Not only do I need to think about that but also what actives work well together..or not.
I have fairly tough olive, mediteranean skin so it can withstand quite a bit of exfoliation. Im 37 and I dont really have many wrinkles etc. My biggest issue is blackheads, (I still break out)& "slowing down" aging etc. The only part I notice aging moreso is around my eyes as they look tired and chin/jaw area are where I notice my skin is not as firm as it once was. Im thinking moreso in terms of slowing down the aging process and having clear beautiful baby smooth skin & firm skin .... Okay I can dream can't I.???
I eat well and exercise lots and drink plenty of water.
Im just so over spending money on things that dont work. Ever since using Retin_A my skin texture has improved. But I have a small scar on my face (looks more like a spot now) and was thinking CPs may help ...plus Ive read that some like it for the antiageing. I dont know if I will like it, but I would like to try it.
Look forward to some replies
TIA |

In case it helps others I just found this on google http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=43194
I don't know why it didnt come up on my searches
Anyway Im thinking of doing this:
AM Alternate: Day 1 : Vit C , Replenish(antioxidant serum), SS
Day2 : Prioro gel (with AHA/BHA) & SS
Alternate PM Night 1: CPs> DMAE cream > squalane
Night 2 Retin A > squalane if I need it?
I would like to build up to CPs> DMAE then Retin A before bed???
What do you think? |

That sounds like quite an aggressive routine, what is your cleansing method and the pH of that product? You say your skin can withstand quite a bit of exfoliation but what is your benchmark for having overdone it? Are you aware that blackheads and breakouts can stem from irritation/ inflammation/ over-cleansing/ over-exfoliating? And are you aware that copper peptides don't play nicely with vitamin C? Skin heals best and the barrier functions best when it is fully hydrated, so moisturising should be a preventative measure not a fire fighting exercise. |

I had a feeling Firefox would reply. She is a wealth of knowledge, and I am learning quite a bit from her.
dionie, in regards to firming your skin and helping your eyes not look as tired, have you read any or the facial exercise threads here? I don't know if you've tried them or are doing them now, but I am getting some pretty good results from them. It took around 3 months for me to start noticing them, but being that you're 12 years younger than I am, you may notice results even sooner. My eyes are starting to open up and my eyebrows are starting to lift. Oh, and I'm getting my apple cheeks back.
Don't feel discouraged that not a lot of people have responded to your post. It was not a stupid question at all. I actually posted a similar question recently. This is how we learn, right? There will be some posts where you'll get no responses and others where you'll get a ton. It all depends on what interests people the most. |

OMG I just wrote up a whole thing and it didnt post. Ugh, here goes again:
Thanks sandooch for your supportive words. I feel that I have been on an ongoing battle with my skincare for the last year. I was on proactiv and it totally killed my skin. TY Darkmoon for the links. I appreciate your time in posting them and always enjoy your advice here on EDS. Im still hoepful about you SS recomendation you made on another thread.
I think Firefox proactiv would have to be my benchmark of whats too much. I used a cleanser from them with Benzyol peroxide, a glycolic acid toner, a BP lotion, Retinol (night) and Vit C (am) daily. Talk about overkill and so uniformed in making these decisions.
My cleanser is PH 5 or 5.5 (cant remember exactly as I emailed them) and has ingredients shown on their website
http://moogoo.com.au/milk-wash/milk-wash.html/?SID=ccd16a6400eaaa73bc328d45bce9b90f
The Priori gel which has lactic acid and salicylic acid has a PH 3.8 with the following ingredients :
Purified Water (Aqua), Lactic Acid, Sodium Lactate, Glycerin, Salicylic Acid, Silica, Phospholipids, Tocopherol, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Retinyl Palmitate, Beta-Carotene, Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4, Butylene Glycol, Carbomer, Polysorbate 20, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Citrus Grandis Fruit Extract, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Xanthan Gum, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin.
My moisturiser is quench by osmosis, sometimes I add a skinceuticals hydrating serum to it.
I slowly started RetinA (StievaA here in Aus) and so far I like it. Vit C I use in the morning and just add the powder to by aubrey organics pure aloe vera. Then I wait and moisturise.
Then I was thinking of alternating CPs and Retin A at night.
But now Im wondering if the Priori gel and DMAE may be too much, any thoughts overall.
TY also as it was from your advice on EDS that I stopped using harsh products on my skin and try to look for sulphate free. I now use sulphate free shampoos, washes, cleansers, and conditioner for all the family
TY everyone for the advice |
