I've been researching how to get a smaller nose naturally and one thing that came up was alternate nostril breathing which claims to sculpt and narrow nose Exclamation Has anyone tried this? Does it actually work? I'm super curious Surprised

ladylib17 Not sure I understand how you mean. Do you mean like they do in Yoga, where you press down on one nostril and inhale for a count with one nostril, hold both for a count, then release the hold on the first nostril to breathe out. Then repeat, only now you inhale with the nostril you just released, hold, exhale through the other.

If that's what you mean, I don't think so. I did Yoga throughout my teens (starting from about the age of 13/14) and alternate breathing was a regular part of my exercise and my nose looked like this at 20:

There's a thread where people were discussing a gadget that pinches your nose like a peg to make it narrow but even then results only seem to work for those who've had work done, if I remember correctly. (I have heard of people claiming that pinching babies' noses repeatedly can reshape them, but if that's true, it may have to do with the cartilage perhaps being softer at that tender age? I dunno.)

Anyway here's that discussion I was referring to: http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=37489

I think I understand what you are saying but I think that would apply to the inner structure of the nose and not external nose... e.g. in cases of severe deviated nasal septum, the nostril which is used primarily tends to become wider and the one not used tends to become narrower but it would apply to the inner upper structure of the nose and not outside, IMO...

Yeah that's what I mean. Inhaling through one nostril and exhaling through the other. So, you think it'll change the internal part of the nose such as the bone structure/bridge?

I don't think it ll change bone but the inner lining/mucous membranes of the nose and make it thinner & thicker.... btw, as far as i know, after a while the side of nose which is being used more tends to narrow down as well Sad

Ooh, that sounds like what I want narrowed. If I did this every day, do you know how long it will take for my nose to get smaller?

what I am trying to say is that, IMO, there will not be any cosmetic change to your nose with this...

Oh, sorry. I misunderstood. So it won't cause any cosmetic change to my nose. Thanks so much for clarifying that.
