Hi Ladies,
How are you? I'm new to the forum and Nu-Derm as well. I just purchased my first kit today. After reading a whole bunch of postings, I'm starting to freak out about the side affects of the products. I'm a marketing consultant and I travel a lot to see clients, so I'm usually on airplanes with stale re-circulated air that's dry. And to add insult to injury it sounds like I'm going to be shedding like a snake already This is so not good.
So I get that ZO is the "over the counter" less evasive version of Nu-Derm, if you wil, but are the results that you achieve with them similar? I know that Nu-Derm surpasses the epidermis layer and actually penetrates the dermis layer. Does anyone know if ZO can penetrate the dermis layer or does it just reach the epidermis like most over the counter lines?
Also, I noticed the big price differential between Nu-Derm and ZO, and I wonder if I'm missing something. Usually the more expensive line is the better one right? So is ZO really the better line or am I thinking about this the wrong way?
Has anyone tried the ZO exfoliating polish to help with the peeling? Or the Ommerse daily renewal creme to help with the dryness?
I may be a skin diva, but I certainly have a lot to learn and I'm hoping you ladies can help me out! Thanks so much! Cheers! |
The Nu Derm is for sun damaged, hyperpigmented skin. It is really best used under a derms supervision, though a lot of people use this on their own. It uses Retin A, AHA, and Hydroquinone to improve the health of your skin on a cellular level.
Obagi's newest line, ZO, is over the counter and uses more of the latest ingredients like peptides, growth factors, retinol, etc.
They are both great systems, but it depends on what your goals are for your skin. If you are after removing sun damage, eliminating hyperpigmentation, improving the health of your skin, then Nu Derm is your best bet. It really does transform your skin.
If you want a great product line to use for anti-aging using the newest ingredients (and prevention in younger people) ZO is your best bet.
ZO uses Retinol, which is no where near as strong as Retin A, but some people cannot handle Retin A, and have great luck using the ZO Radical Night Repair (which has a high % of Retinol as well as other anti-aging ingredients).
I use the ZO exfoliating polish and it does help tremendously with the flakes from Nu Derm.
The Daily Renewal Creme would be used like the Action product in Nu Derm. Only very sparingly, and only when absolutely necessary. This should not be used on a daily basis while on Nu Derm.
Another thing to think about is that ZO is a great line to use while on maintenance with Nu Derm. You would get the best of both worlds, then! |
