Hi UK Man
What have you tried, and presumably, disliked since last year? Because nothing much has changed on the sunscreen front.

Here's a thread that might be able to help you:

Although I haven't tried it, La Roche Posay's Dermo-Pediatrics spf 40 spray seems to be particularly highly recommended. I can't use it, as I wear Mineral Makeup, but it'd probably be a good option for you.
I'm going to be buying Clarins UV Plus next, as my current Avene SPF 50+ spray is pretty shiny. |

Hi
You'll have a lot of preferences recommended to you, but what you need to find out if you've got serious hyperpigmentation is what the PPD (persistant pigment darkening) is for it. This measures the protection for UVA. The PPD for Clarins is 8 (on Makeupalley), this is a bit on the low side, but then I think the one you're using is only 10. What I'm using is estimated 15 and you can go up to 20 or more.
Here's a long list of brands and their PPDs
http://makeupalley.com/user/notepad/sunscreens
so you can check on non-oily recommendations.
Don't worry none of us can decide either |

Hi UK man
I'm afraid you wouldn't want to copy me - I'm still finishing off my Avene spray SPF 40 and I look slimy and white.
MajorB's rec for the Anthelios Dermo-Kids from La Roche Posay is a good one -
"Anthelios Dermo-Kids/Pediatrics SPF 40/PPD 18 Spray is reportedly very light and matte and is an excellent choice for normal/oily skin"
I don't think I've seen any other matt screens with a high PPD.
I've seen users here say the Dermo-kids stays matt through sports activities and humid weather. I also saw someone's husband liked it - so maybe it's good for men.

Bioderma, this year's formulation, people are saying is fairly matte for a high PPD sunscreen. I've never tried it though. LPR Dermo Peds SPF 40 is also much loved. I haven't tried it either, just going from what I've heard about the finish of high PPD sunscreens, mainly on the MUA skincare board. Does the UK have access to Bioderma?
Editing to add the exact names of the Bioderma that are most liked:
Bioderma Photoderm MAX Lait and Fluide SPF 50+
Bioderma Photoderm BIO Lait SPF 30, Bioderma MAX Spray SPF 50+ also La Roche-Posay Anthelios Dermo-Kids/Pediatrics SPF 50+ |

I'm using the LRP Dermo Peds at the moment, and I have really oily skin. It's a really nice suncreen, light texture but it still has a slight shine on me, it would probably be perfect for someone with slightly drier skin. One other thing that's slightly annoying is that I find it balls up really badly, you only have to touch your face and little bits rub off. Putting that aside though, it's probably one of the more easier to wear sunscreens from LRP because so far it's the one that seems to be the most matte. |

Sadly, Bioderma doesn't seem to be available here in the UK, as far as I can tell. |

Hi, I highly recommend La Roche Posey's Anthelios XL, the extreme version is great if you are more on the oily side.
Also, Bioderma has great sunscreens as well, they are available on many websites that ship worldwide, hths. |

Oh, darn! Would it be economical to order from tubotica.com?
This is another Loreal sunscreen, so it has Mexoryl, is it available in the UK?:
Vichy Capital Soleil Ultra Fluide SPF 50+/PPD 20 European version.
I'm going to try the Canadian version with a PPD of 15 (Mexoryl SX isn't as effective as LX) and our local drug store has it, which is rare. I normally can't tolerate chemical sunscreens but am now using Tazorac and really need to get serious about protection. I will try it as it's supposed to be matte-ish and gentle. If my eyes water and my skin burns oh well, at least I'm not going to fry in the sun. Good luck finding a nice sunscreen, it's so important. |

I thought this was available in the UK? If not, please, go to the sunscreens link Molly provided for etailers who ship the UK. |
