Maybe some of our little witches who are experienced with brewing stuff over their cauldrons can help me with this question!
I have a large scar on my arm I got from climbing down an iron and stone fence  (I know, I'm a klutz!). In an effort to get rid of this scar, I researched essential oils and found about 12-15 that are good for scar "removal," so I bought 5 ml. of each of the 12-15 EOs.
I have 15 ml. of grapeseed oil as a carrier and want to add 1 oz. of emu oil to it, also as a carrier. Here's the tricky part: I don't know if it would be OK to literally add the contents of ALL of the 12-15 EOs (which would equal about 60 ml. [2 oz.] to 75 ml. [2.5 oz]) to the grapeseed/emu oil carrier mix (which I think totals only 1.5 oz.), or if doing so would mean that my carrier oil to EO ratio would be WAY off and I'd end up burning off the skin on my arm, making the scar worse! 
If anyone can tell me the percentage (amount or # of drops?) of each of the EOs to use with the 1.5 oz. of carrier oil, I'd be very grateful!
Lastly, do all EOs mix well together, or are there some combinations that cancel each other out or just work badly together?
Any help you ladies can provide would be greatly appreciated! TIA!  |

| MermaidGirl, I'm just starting to research and order products for DIY so I'm no expert. What I have read indicates that some eo mix and others don't. Have you tried any forums connected to the sites that sell eo and other diy items. One oil I have read about and use is Tamanu oil mixed with Emu oil. I use this on a scar that's 5 yrs. old on my neck and newer ones on my breasts from a breast reduction 1 yr. ago. I can't say that the ones under my breasts are improved since I've been using the emu oil since I was allowed to medically. I do think the scar on my neck has softened and dimminished alittle with the tamanu and emu mix-50/50-a couple of drops ea. once to 2x aday. IMHO. Good luck |

nomoreneckpain, I sooo appreciate your response and input on the tamanu oil! I will take your suggestion and just contact the companies I purchased the oil from and ask them about which ones mix well together and which to avoid mixing, as well as percentages. I want this thing to work, not be an irritant! |

If you give me the list of EOs you plan to use, I can tell you if they "mesh."
Also, have you thought about trying Candy's/Candessence "What Scar" ointment? I believe there's a currently a thread w/ product reviews regarding it.... |

Thank you CareKate  , I'm getting ready to leave for work, but when I get back I'll post a list of the EOs and other goodies I've purchased.
Yes, my plan is to purchase some of Candy's ointment (as well as some of her other fab products!), but I found out about it after I went out and spent a lot of $ on EOs. So, now that I have a slew of little EO bottles, I'm going to go ahead and brew up my concoction out of curiosity and also because I'd kind of like to give DIY a go. |

Hi MG, I'm a qualified practicing aromatherapist and can help you with this..
First up, you won't need to use all 15 or even 12 of the Essential oils you had bought. For your 45ml grapeseed/emu oil combo, you'd need at most 23 drops in total of essential oils
But as you've already selected 12-15 essential oils you'd like to have in your blend - all probably to address your current concern - the scar, I can help you whittle that list down to 3 (at the very most 5) essential oils that you absolutely can use in your blend, although 3 suitable essential oils will be enough to create a good enough remedy.
But do tell what you had in your list of essential oils and I'd need to know a little more about your medical history in order to advise you on a good blend.

By the way I want to add that the ratio of the essential oils to carrier oils is 2.5%.

The carrier oil can be any cold pressed oil such as Grapeseed oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Jojoba, Hazlenut, Avocado, Apricot, among others, that's used to dilute essential oils for application.
The carrier oil/s you choose to use can be based on your skin type or a combination of carrier oils that also addresses any particular concerns you might have.
Grapeseed oil is a light oil that is absorbed into the skin and doesn't feel greasy and is good for oily skin.
Emu Oil is highly moisturizing and a natural skin softener with rejuvenating properties. Hence, good for reducing fine lines and also scars. It's also highly penetrating and non greasy.

You want the formula to make the fragrance stuff, right? I'll share one with you iffen you tell me where you got your diffuser/reed thingy -- I've been looking for one for ages! Deal?!
ETA: FYI - you can buy ready-made "potpouri" fragrance oil-mixtures at Walmart in the arts&crafts/sewing section of the store for a buck each and they smell really good, too -- for those who don't want to go to the trouble of DIYing it! |

I read on one of these threads (which I can't remember) that the reeds are just those sticks they put balloons on,and I also saw the bottles with the corks in them on the same thread. I am wanting to make some for Christmas presents. Are you a Tx. gal? Thanks, lovelyme |

I recently made my own Vit C serum, after spending so much on name brand serums, and the one I made is awesome.
I put L-ascorbic crystals (from health food store) and mixed them with hyaluronic acid, and aloe vera gel, and then added about 3 drops each of bergamot essential oil and lemon essential oil. It came out so nice, and smells amazing! I have been using this batch for about 2 weeks, and I think it will last about a month for soooo much cheaper than the C I was buying from Professional Solutions. |

Well color me stupid -- MMS is the site from which I order the colorants I use to make my tinted lip balms!  Here I was looking all over the WWW to find the bloody things and they were right under my nose all the time. Geez, how embarrassing!  Well, I *can* attest to the fact that MMS has some FABULOUS fragrance oils to select from and all reasonably priced, if not downright cheaper than others that I’ve seen....
And, yes, I’m in Texas – the Music Capital of the World, to be exact! |

Nice to meet you fellow texan. Glad you tried the site and found out it was one you had already use. How in the world did you ever learn to do all the things your do with the oils,etc. except i know us Tx. gals are smart. have a good one. |
