It has been discussed that those with broken caps shouldnt use the aspirin mask, but are is the mask really safe?

Some people use the mask nearly every day. However, in MUA, there was a member cautioning others to stop using it so often as putting say 6 aspirins on the face for 7 days a week is equal to taking the 6 aspirins by mouth.

Since adding yoghurt to my aspirin mask, I have used the mask every day for the past 2/3 weeks, cos it really does make my skin super soft and smooth. But is there any truth to what the MUA member said about not using the mask so often???

Thanks! Smile

Don't know all the answers to your questions - but I am terribly curious as to how this member determined this (topically v/s orally)? And how is it supposed to be detrimental?

I've never heard of an asprin mask before. How does it work and how do you put it on?

(tip on searching for topics on EDS - the search function here is ummm, lacking. The best route is to go to Google.com, then to Advanced search it'll be next to the search box, type in the topic you desire then little further down it'll give ya an option of WHERE on the web to search - just type in EssentialDaySpa.com/forum and you'll get far more relevant searches then attempting to do it here.)

I first read about the aspirin mask while I was breastfeeding and was curious about how much salicylic acid would be absorbed through the skin. I really wanted to try the mask so I asked my Nurse Practicioner if it was safe to use SA products topically and she said only trace amounts would be absorbed through the skin and it would be safe to use. I know she would not have told me that if it was equal to taking aspirin orally, as SA can be harmful to a baby. I am still nursing and I am using the mask 1-2 times a week.

Thanks for the replies.

I used to use the aspirin mask maybe twice a week or just when I want to. But cos I was breaking out really badly last week (TOTM), I used it every night and seems to be helping a little bit. So now, I want to try using it religously for maybe 5 times a week but was worried about I dont know, an aspirin overdose Embarassed

But thanks for the reassurance!
